However the reason why Kyle and me made this post was that we wanted Automattic team to take care of the issues raised by you. For e.g. Popularity contest takes too much server load - it&#039;s probably because it is poorly coded. Same is the case with Google XML sitemaps too - even that is indeed poorly coded and wastes lots of server resources. Apart from that these options can be just in core feature with the ability of turning them on and off, for e.g. permalinks can&#039;t be supported by all the web hosts, however, it&#039;s still present as the core feature.
