Great article with great points! It *is* an exciting time to be learning about the internet!
I realized a while back that early on I cut myself short by not tacking the word "consultant" on to my repertoire. As a "developer" I've spent hours upon hours "consulting" potential clients... not always getting development work. Sometimes talking them OUT of hiring me because custom builds were not required or not what they needed. Sometimes I wish I could go back and re-think my purpose early in my career... so this is something I think that developers who have immersed themselves in the web should bear in mind. Your knowledge of the landscape and available tools/how to use them effectively is valuable. Your development skills are not the only commodity you possess. ;)
Totally fair... the alternative is tantamount to payola. The worst part is, it happens all the time (I won't name names)... So I, for one, am glad that you have the policy that you do. We know we can trust you... ;)

As for the t-shirt, that is not my department but I will pass the word. (I would like one, too. Lol.)
