I recall hearing about the emails and shrugging, thinking "How bad could it be for The Hockey Team?"
Then I read the emails and realize that the CRU guys were batshit crazy - they had held out from sharing data and code but the mails about FOI were incredible - then the real reveal was the manipulation of peer review process. It may be old news for academics but for someone with an idealized view of the scientific process it was a real eye opener.

As someone famously said, "If you have lost John Stewart, you have lost the country." The Obama administration has whined about persecution by the evil Fox News while cushioned in a media bubble for so long that I can't imagine how they will react to the inevitable bursting.
At some point the media will realize that their audience isn't buying the illusion and all but the most committed (MSNBC anyone?) will become much more critical.
