I attended the Oklahoma City Tea Party on the Oklahoma state capital steps. It was a significant event for several reasons. First, .5, 000 or more showed up rather than the 1,500 that were expected. Secondly the people who did show up were the heart of our society. These people were the middle class tax paying hard working people who built and paid for our country. When they left this event there were no broken windows, damaged landscaping, graffiti or destruction of any kind. It is amazing how protective a large crowd is of what they built and paid for. And most importantly, there was no violence of any kind.

I live in Oklahoma City, There has been a huge surge in the number of people applying for their concealed carry permits. People I would never have expected to, are now getting permits to carry a handgun. These people are arming themselves because they are concerned for their personal safety. With the economy deteriorating, everyone expects crime to surge and they don’t think for one second that the government authorities have the ability or even the desire to protect law abiding citizens. In short, the law abiding populace is taking the law into their own hands.
