Over-regulation (with no oversight) it what lead to our economic "crisis". All regulation is going to do in this case is increase costs. It is not going to control pollution. The EPA is one of the most upside down agencies in the government. Many of their programs are running in the red. Additionally, many of them cost more than the actual lives they actually save. In short, the agency costs more than its worth. The EPA is like the IRS in that it must either be revamped or abolished. There is zero push in Washington to reform anything that makes any sense. This Congress and this White House is completely under the belief that throwing more money at something or throwing more rules at something makes it all better. There are enough environmental laws on the books that if we would just follow those, as well as make the EPA more efficient, nothing else would need to be done.
