Just a minor correction...A Zumba instructor does not receive certification. They receive a license to use the Zumba name and to lead a class. All you have to do is attend one workshop and you are good to go. Most good Zumba instructors, like the one featured here, either have a strong dance background or a real certification from an organization like AFAA, ACE. Certification requires knowledge, taking a test and passing with a high score. Qualify your instructor's credentials so that you know you will be led in a safe, but fun manner.

You can untie the hands of the police, but what about the liberal judges? Many of these criminal crackpots either get probation or light sentences. Remember the kids that killed Tuba Man? Those kids received the equivalent of a "slap on the wrist". And the one boy has been out and causing grievous mischief ever since. We must have judges handing down stiff sentences and then Police enforcement will be effective.

Sad, but true. We had a choice with the last mayoral election to pick a conservative successful businessman, but Seattle, Progs that they are ....always vote the most useless mayors in...just because they have that "D" after their name. Our mayor is more concerned with bike lanes and restricting new parking.

Yes, it does have to do with the Mayor, the City Council and Obama. Obama has put the DOJ's nose in local affairs regarding issues with SPD is NOT a federal issue (we are not speaking of the National Guard, Army, Navy, etc.). The City Council and Mayor McGinn have neglected what is their job of the SPD, oversight and support as well.

Seattle will go the way of Detroit as long as Progs feel that every thug needs a hug. The Progs see zero connection between stiff jail sentences for offenses (check how much time a car thief gets...nothing)
Peeps need to realize when the thugs have nothing to fear, that it is a free-for-all, and innocent peeps are always the ones who suffer the consequences. I feel so awful for this family. I only hope the thugs are caught and justice is served, though it is cold comfort. If the thugs are caught, one can only hope that a tough conservative judge hears the case and not a Prog.

You seem to neglect the fact that Obamamao is more interested in sticking the Feds nose into Seattle affairs. It is true that Seattle Police need some changes, but that leadership needs to come from our Mayor and the City Council, NOT the DOJ!!!

Then we have the liberal judges who feel sorry for these young thugs who are certain to turn their lives around and are let off with no sentence or a light one. The laws need to be tough, the Police need to be allowed to do their job with proper oversight and encouragement from our local officials. Guaranteed that the thugs who took this innocent man's life have long rap sheets. Don't hold your breath since this IS Seattle where the color Deep Blue will never change.

My husband is a marine clerk and was a longshoreman for years at the Port. Though many safety rules and regulations have been instituted over the years, it still remains a dangerous job.

As mentioned in the article, this accident will be thoroughly investigated and likely more safety regs will be made part of protocol. Unfortunately, humans are just that, human...and prone to making fatal errors or judgments. All it takes is a lapse of attentiveness. I am horrified how this man died and feel so badly for his friends and family. Know one thing though, no matter what many peeps think of the ILWU union, it very much takes care of its own and closes ranks around those harmed. They will do whatever they can to assist that man's family.

Read my comment below. Dr. Mixon has not prescribed HGH for years now. My husband is one of his patients. And my husband was doing very well with HGH before Dr. Mixon became concerned when the Feds came sniffing around. And, no, my husband is not a bodybuilder. His levels of HGH were always kept right in the middle of the range for lab values. This is pure cr*p coming from those trying to keep us "safe". Check out the number of contaminated prescription generics (where people have died) that come from China. Your medications likely were made in China and who knows which of them is contaminated.

I agree. And for the longest time, the makers of Paxil, Zoloft, and other anti-depressants refused to believe that "discontinuation syndrome" existed. When someone has taken these drugs for a period of time and need to go off of them, they run a high risk or going through horrible withdrawals. Despite that, every family doctor or Nurse Practitioner is allowed to prescribe these drugs WITHOUT the patient seeing a psychiatrist FIRST. Hypocrites.

Who wrote this story? Did the individual even know how to check their sources or if the information is truthful. Dr. Mixon at one time prescribed HGH. No longer. He last prescribed about five or six years ago. So, KOMO news why is Dr. Mixon lumped in with the currently charged physicians? Also, Dr. Mixon was never disciplined for prescribing HGH, rather he, on his own, stopped prescribing due to fears of the DEA coming down on him. My husband was on HGH and had regular lab testing (by reputable labs) to be certain he was in a normal therapeutic range. In no way, when HGH is prescribed properly, is it used or abused like what famous athletes are prone to.

I don't know about the other physicians accused of illegally prescribing. However, this sounds like a witch hunt. Oh, and I am an RN who worked 15 yrs in a trauma hospital and do know something about drugs and medications. While I have no qualms about medical marijuana, it seems hypocritical that the DEA comes down on properly prescribed HGH, and then allows ILLEGAL marijuana clinics (according to Fed law) to flourish. Like I said, I have no issues with medical marijuana, but the clinics are illegal and prescribing HGH for proven lab values that show blood levels low is not.

Shameful, tilted story. But then what would one expect from a sensation headline grabbing media?

This should have never happened to this poor woman...or any woman. Why was this man out with his criminal sexual predator history? It is because the liberal judges think that everyone is just "good at heart" and makes a mistake once in a while.

This man harbors pure evil. Put him away and throw away the key. I am fearful he will be given 25 yrs and then it will be cut in half for "good behavior. My prayers to the young woman for quick healing physically and emotionally!
