Colin, the new event should be listed on your calendar starting at the current time, lasting for 30 minutes (the default event duration). If you've made any changes to the event, you should see the red "X" button in the upper-lefthand corner showing a small black circle instead of an "X", which indicates you can perform a Save operation on the event. Here's a screenshot:

Hey Mike, Good question. No, you don't have to do this for every folder. You'll use your Mail View to specify which messages you'd like to archive (whether those messages are within the same folder or not).

Mary, you may want to post your question on this dicussion group. You may have better luck with an answer.

Very interesting. I do know of a few folks who've used this AutoArchive script. A couple co-workers have written their own scripts to auto-archive (similar to how the AutoArchive script above works).

Matt,

Inasmuch as I'm aware, the Create Event from Message is an out-of-the-box feature of Microsoft Entourage 2008. This script should appear under your AppleScripts/Automator Workflow menu when you're inside of Entourage. This menu corresponds to scripts found under ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Entourage Script Menu Items/ folder. Here's a copy of the Create Event from Message script in case your not finding this script on your system.

This script is one of my favorites.

Michael, I'd originally written this article under the context of Leopard. Thanks much for your feedback with regard to this functionality in Snow Leopard.

Satcomtim,

While on the Automator File menu, look for "Save as Plugin...". Here's a screenshot.

George,

Once your workflow has been created, from Automator choose to save it as a Finder plugin, which will put your workflow plugin into ~/Library/Workflows/Applications/Finder/your workflow. To activate, right-click on any file (in Finder) and hover over the More -- Automator -- your workflow selection. This will activate your workflow on the selected file. See this screenshot as an example.
