Starting a 501c(3) isn't that difficult if it's a cause you really care about. Are there prostate screening/advocacy charities? If not, maybe that's something to think about.

A lot of local non-profit hospitals have foundations that can allocate money fairly specifically. Call them up and see what they can do.

Stories like this make me appreciate that I'm in my 30's and a root canal is the most "surgery" that I'd personally had. Good on you, and good luck, dude. Heart surgery at 12 sounds pretty rough, but I have friends who are in great shape after similar things twenty something years ago.

They'll probably outlive me, anyway.

Giving out the name of a minor charged with a crime is completely up to the station/paper/web site covering it. There is no obligation to withhold that, it's just something frequently done.

I'd assume because it was aired before they knew his age there is little harm in re-airing it now that it's known he's a minor.
