Atheist Revolution : If It Makes You Feel Better...

I think "if it makes you happy" is *politely* telling someone you don't subscribe to magic and I've used it myself. My recent post Video- Joy To The World

Deep Thoughts : 20% of Americans are idiots

Just read about this on The Plum Line ( http://bit.ly/bVHFpG ) & it appears to be the new way to say "I hate Obama". What's worse is that Obama keeps responding with "no, no, no - I am not one of them!!".

Great smackdown. Especially loved this line: "...you can’t seem to reason your way out of a wet paper sack, even with the aid of a chain-saw and an angry claustrophobic ferret."

Atheist Revolution : The Fool Says In His Heart...

Here's the thing. I don't care if they think I'm evil. These are people who think the universe exists to serve them. They've made a god out of ignorance as well as arrogance (not to be confused with pride). Seriously. Would you care if Charles Manson thought you were a shithead? Would you argue with & offer evidence to him? I wouldn't.

Atheist Revolution : The Fool Says In His Heart...

I would suggest not quoting the bible unless you know it because it can come back to bite you on your behind. What I'd suggest is bluntly asking them if they're aware they're calling you immoral (many are ignorant & have no idea that the 'fool' in Psalms 14:1 & Psalms 53:1 is not an idiot, but some one who is immoral). Or you could go with my first husband's response which was (in his snarkiest tone) "Learn that at church?".

Atheist Revolution : To What Degree Is Atheism Voluntary?

You do realize that what you wrote is merely a reversal of Ray Comfort's belief that *all* atheists are merely pretending that the Christian god does not exist, yes?

Atheist Revolution : Have I Been Wrong About Atheist-Theist Dialogue?

I think you need to be open to the idea that, after speaking with someone in detail, that further engagement is a waste of time. Like Daniel, I am not interested in much of anything Christians have to say. They rarely bring anything new to the table and are usually quite ignorant of the subject to begin with.

Womanist Musings : Gays And Lesbians Know The Meaning Of The Word Attack

I disagree. These people interpret anything but absolute silence as persecution. If we are to have standards, they should be based on reasonable ideas unconnected to their possible reactions. It should not be "we should do/not do this thing because they will cry wolf" but "we should do/not do this thing because [insert moral/ethical idea]". Anything else is giving them the upper hand.

Thank you for posting this video. I noticed a uptick in Christian appropriation of such language about a year ago when a legitimate Christian group declared a lack of patience for being proselytized by Christians to be an act of persecution.

i get pissed : Quotes Please (if you're interested)

"It will yet be the proud boast of women that they never contributed a line to the Bible." — George W. Foote "What has been Christianity’s fruits? Superstition, Bigotry and Persecution." — James Madison “It is an interesting and demonstrable fact, that all children are atheists and were religion not inculcated into their minds, they would remain so.” ~ Ernestine Rose “Faith is a cop-out. It is intellectual bankruptcy. If the only way you can accept an assertion is by faith, then you are conceding that it can’t be taken on its own merits.” ~ Dan Barker "I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it". -- Mark Twain -------------- Not sure if the last one fits at all, but it makes me smile every time I see it.

Womanist Musings : Why You Should Know The Name Billey Joe Johnson

I lived in Lucedale when I was a kid and our mother is buried there. One of my brother's ended up suing the police department after they held him for 18 months without charge. AFAIK, the fuckwits still don't think they did anything wrong. It doesn't surprise me one bit that they killed someone. My heart goes out to Billey Joe's family.

Womanist Musings : Polytechnique: Of Course We Need A Male Perspective

I'm not Canadian nor do I live anywhere near ya'll (I'm in Houston, Texas), but is there a way that protests could be staged at any theatre that shows this piece of shit movie? I'm thinking giant signs that point out that 14 women were murdered for being women and the movie is about men.
