:( sorry.. i know it is giving this error becoz it is unable to update ur BB but i don't know y it is giving this error for custom firmware, may be any one other can help you with this :( but i don't know

Yes insert the original sim card and restore it when it comes to emergency lock screen connect it to itunes and you got ur home screen no more emergency lock screen means ur iphone is activated now u can use any other sim and do the rest of process (ultrasn0wing etc)

Here are the steps : Run redsnow and chose firmware (4.1 for your iphone) when it identify it click next and chose option just enter pwned DFU mode right now > then click next it will help you to go to DFU mode this is not the ordinary DFU mode it is for using custom firmware.. :) it will help try it

if you have a mac try 4.2.1 custom firmware. may be it solve ur problem but i never face this problem neither solved in this way so if u want to try (try it on ur own risk) sorry
