HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Webcomic : Baby We Were Born To Run For The Border

The second, and so far the last, time I entered the US from Canada by road was pretty interesting... for starters, some jackhole had grabbed the wrong bag off the Greyhound bus we were on when he got off on the last stop before the border, which was but a small annoyance compared to what followed... Apparently, some other jackhole - indeed, one of the jackest of holes, if that was a thing - had left a suitcase with what appeared to be a bomb in the luggage compartment of the bus. Actual quote from the CBP people x-raying the abandoned suitcase: "Oh, that's not good!" - after that, we were all led to a room where they took our passports, did some basic questioning and we had to sit and wait for something like 6 hours while they closed off the tunnel + a couple of blocks of Detroit, lots of cops etc showed up, complete with the Hurt Locker outfit, little robot and what have you. When everything was kinda sorted out, we had to wait for an hour, maybe hour and a half, for the next bus from Canada, cuz our driver had been awake for so long, he wasn't allowed to drive the bus to the station. Finding out we could have walked to the station in fifteen minutes or so was just... great. Still, made it back safe and sound, got a story to tell family and friends, and I'll never forget when the guy in charge asked if everyone was sure that nobody wanted to admit they owned the suitcase - "You're not in any trouble, we just want to know so we can give it back to you."... *after* they had blown the damn thing up! :P

HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Webcomic : Tight Pants And Tiaras

For some reason, I find the link "Hard rod stuck in tight cunt! | Naughty Amateur Thinking [...] HijiNKS ENSUE – A Geek Webcomic – 3 Times A Week » Archive » Tight … [...] " somewhat out of place in this comments section - I mean, if there was a bondage theme, I'd see the WW connection, but this is just wrong...ish. Apparently, it's a "related blog" due to the word "Tight" in the comic title. Ah, the magic of the Internet.

On the topic of nerdy wedding ideas, this is a fairly obvious one: In place of the traditional little bride and groom on the wedding cake, I heartily recommend Han Solo and Princess Leia action figures/figurines/whatever - Leia in the traditional white dress, of course, and Han's vest is close enough to a tux :P The (now ex-) wife and I had stumpy big-headed Han and Leia thingies on our cake at our wedding party - the marriage failed, but the cake looked wicked awesome!

Living in central third-world Norway, I don't get to attend many cons, but I did go to Wizard World Chicago a few years back with my ex, and there were some good ones - There was a very well-done Beetlejuice interacting beautifully with Darth Vader and his stormtrooper retinue, but my favorite of the event just might be Morbidly Obese African-American Batman.

Is it just me, or was the whole selfless sacrifice thing kinda weak and terribly cliché? It felt like something that should be about three quarters into a movie from 10 years ago, right before the good guys make their stand and turn things around or something like that... Kinda like the writers just decided to Insert Noble Sacrifice Here. Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong, but the guy was toast regardless, right? Didn't he have like profuse internal bleeding and no major medical options at the time?

I have been assured repeatedly that SG-1 is excellent, and that Atlantis is watchable. Personally, I've seen the original movie and found it fantastic in its time, and I have seen a couple of episodes of SG-1 but never really watched it - it's got MacGyver, though, so it's awesome by default. Atlantis... I have seen a few minutes. I don't know what the hell was going on, but there appeared to be some freaky deaky aliens with names taken from Norse mythology, and that alone made me change the channel and very nearly throw up a little due to sheer cultural outrage :-P This one looks like it might work out, though, although (among some niggling details) their security measures when testing out a Stargate with an unknown destination are... well, laughable. Seriously, they're gonna let Not-Baltar, a US senator (with tag-along daughter/aide) and the Video Game Kid just hang out in the room with minimal protection while they dial the thing? I mean, it is configured to only dial out, but once it's open it works both ways, and they have no idea what's on the other side, right? :-P

HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Webcomic : Guest Comic By Save Hiatus

I think the show seems interesting enough so far, but I have one of those questions that pop up right about now as I am watching episode 3... Without spoiling anything too much, there is a reference to an event that happened in 1991, and the DHS is mentioned. If anyone more in the know, and/or more American, than myself, could inform me if I'm missing something, please do so, but I am assuming the "DHS" in question is the Department of Homeland Security... Did that exist as an entity in 1991? Wikipedia seems to confirm my suspicions that the DHS was not established until 2002. In their obsession with the future, have the writers of FlashForward forgotten to fact check the past? :-P

Seconded. Same thing here in Norway; it ain't perfect, but at least you can afford to eat and be sick at the same time (and by "being sick" at the same time, I don't mean "literally vomiting while consuming food", cuz that'd just be... well, difficult, and probably some weird fetish that already exists somewhere on the Internet).

You poor bastard. If it helps, you've made me feel marginally better about my own life through the magical power of comparison. I genuinely hope you feel better and have a carefree life indefinitely. I'd be happy to donate a little extra to help with the medical bills if I wasn't shit poor at the moment (although, I could probably find a few extra bucks to sling your way - hell, I live in Norway, where a can of soda costs like $5; I'll see what I can do, but I won't be one of those crazy awesome FBs that really turns stuff around, just a wee bastard who chips in a bit for the greater good).

I don't, personally - look forward to those potential films, that is. That is, at least not in general, but I did actually let High School Musical taint my eyes (and ears) at one point, and it wouldn't have made X-Men III any *worse*... Also, Fantastic Four would make as much sense if Dr Doom was actually Dr. Donald Duck and not Dr. Christian Troy.
