Judy Cullins' Book Writing, Self Publishing, and Marketing Blog : Amazon Bestseller Campaigns

With every industry that is growing you see that type of thing. Believe me, I've been doing Internet marketing for 16-years now. I've seen it all. Now it's happening in the self-pub space and nobody is going to be able to stop it, unfortunately. Sad, I know.

People pay to read your blog posts? Because that was my point. Of course I get you can make money indirectly from writing blog posts. What do you think I'm doing right now?

Again, you are missing the point Greg. This isn't about how much money he made really, this is about having the opportunity to do it differently than traditional publishing.

My book is about crowdfunding mainly. Joe's book is a generic book about self-pubbing. Both are good. :)

You're missing the point Greg. The point is that anyone can have the opportunity to do this now with self-publishing. Of course not everyone is going to be as successful as he is. But at least now with digital books we have a chance. Traditional publishing didn't give that.

I love competition as well and we need it here, but unless you're going to do it right, it's meaningless. BN is just another example of how to do it poorly. Long submission queues, bad searching, etc... You name it. Amazon just does it better. I have zero confidence that the makers of iTunes are going to revolutionize how people buy books.

Randy, you're right, it is the oil that makes your machine run better, assuming you are doing it right. I wasn't. It was never about the group failing to do what it was doing. It was always me failing to use the group the right way. Hence this post.

I try so hard to make sure my kids understand this. They're so young, but I'm worried they'll be followers. I guess we all learn it at different points in our lives. I learned it about the same time you did Dan. Never looked back and except for a few bumps in the road, it's been good.
