I had the same problem. Redownload. Shut down your comp. Boot it back up. You should be good.

-Follow steps. I got failed to enter dfu mode, but then it said it was successful. Idk y.
-Follow step #1
-Follow step #2 BUT don’t use Firmware 2.2. Use the 2.2.1_5H11 ipsw you just made with Pwnage Tool.
-Let it load and it should be good. This is what I did. It worked. Nothing else seemed to work. Big thanks to JackShiloo for pointing me in the right direction.

-Hope this helps.

4.Now, open up Pwnage Tool 2.2.5. Follow these steps I did.
-Click on iPhone 3G picture.
-Select EXPERT MODE on top left corner. Then hit the blue arrow on bottom right.
- “Browsing for IPSW” it should say. WAIT until you see 2.2.1_5H11 ipsw and select it. NOT 2.2_577!
-There should be six option.Go to “General”, hit the blue button on the bottom right corner.
-MAKE SURE “Activate the phone” is NOT select. Uncheck it if it is. Hit the blue button on the bottom right corner.
-Keep hitting the blue buttom on the bottom right until you get back to the options page.
-Click “Build”. Hit the blue button on the bottom right corner.
-Save file on Desktop for easy access.
-Now its building IPSW.
-“Has your iPhone 3G been Pwned before?” Click “NO”

1.Put your iphone in TRUE DFU MODE! That is when your iphone screen is completely black and is still showing in iTunes! Not Restore Mode! Hold HOME and POWER button for 10 seconds. After ten seconds LET GO OF THE POWER BUTTON ONLY! Continue to hold the HOME button for another 10 seconds. Screen must be black when iTunes recognizes it.

2. So now your screen is black. Hit [ALT+CLICK] over the RESTORE button. NOW select the Firmware 2.2. *My screen went white for like 2 or 3 seconds*

3.ITS NOT GOING TO WORK! You will get an error! Click OK. Now you iPhone should have the iTunes logo on top with the USB on the bottom screen.

Yes. Everything works. Not sure how I can find out the baseband but if I were to go to the "ABOUT" on my iphone and go to "Modem Firmware", it says 04.20.01.....

DOWNGRADE 3G iPHONE on 3.0 BETA

I have a macbook at 10.5.6. Read the http://blog.iphone-dev.org/page/2 . I have an iPhone 3G. Upgraded to 3.0 Beta through torrent, then my iPhone became locked (iTunes said couldn’t complete activation BLAH BLAH BLAH).

What I used…3G iPhone Firmware 2.2, NOT 2.2.5! And Pwnage 2.2.5, NOT Quickpwn( It would tell me to connect device when it was already connected. What the hell?) Google for these. Not hard to find. I believe there is a 2G 2.2, find the 3G 2.2.
