It's not that I disagree, I just understand that our system is not that easy to change, and it's just my pessimistic way of saying that there will be barriers. It's always like that. :( convoluted...

And in the real world, people aren't getting paid to keep up with the rising costs of everything else. So yeah, you're right... because the problem is not that the price of school is increasing, it's that people's ability to pay for it is decreasing.

Well I also went to CU with plenty of students who wouldn't have been able to afford CU if there hadn't been in-state tuition, and they weren't minorities with scholarships (which I was) nor did they have 4.0's and they deserved to go to school just like anyone else. I wouldn't have been able to afford CU without some help, but I'm pretty sure my parents' income bracket would've taken me out of the running for certain aid (and I think it did actually). There are too many ways to decide who needs reduced tuition and who doesn't. It's all a big problem. So instead of making it exclusionary in the first place then creating a bureaucracy and extra overhead to decide who should pay less, there should just remain in-state. That's just how it is. I mean, I see your point, but I'm not sure it would work well that way. I'm not sure how many students pay what percentage of CU's budget, but I'm sure it's something like what you said. And the state gives CU so little anyways... I dunno, it's all a convoluted system. If only it was easier.

Because in-state students have paid the money - the taxes - that go into the state system. Pretty sure that's how it works.

Daily Camera.com: : Ask Dave Taylor: Should I upgrade my iPhone 3? - Boulder Daily Camera

People don't typically buy iPhones to use them as a phone, so I'm kind of with Teledude on this one. Besides, Apple has made it so that you have to eventually upgrade to get all the functionality of an iPhone, the apps that are made for it, and the technology that's available. Sounds like the person who writes in is not necessarily trying to "keep up with the Joneses" as much as they are wondering if it's worth the upgrade.

Longmont Times-Call : Boulder County couple good at give and take - Longmont Times-Call

Great story! I was a Young Dem at CU and they were always great to us. I can't think of a time when he and Josie didn't come up to us to chat and ask how things are going. They were always a regular fixture at county dinners (and probably still are). It's really nice to have leaders in the Democratic community who encourage young leadership to step up and be involved. Thanks Rollie and Josie!

EAT IT ALL. Or, next time add butter before you serve it and it'll taste better as leftovers. Disclosure: I swore I would never eat that crap again after college, but now I just get the organic kind and call it a compromise.

Probably also deserves the "Victim of the Year" award for imagining being so brutally and savagely attacked on message boards. Apparently you can't make a point and leave it at that with a lot of people in these discussions, 1) because they aren't discussions and 2) that's the whole point of trolling, I guess. So "Pot Kettle Black" would only make sense if I were trying to "attack" him.

I agree that heroin is very dangerous and I agree that it doesn't make sense. I guess that's one reason why the reactions should reflect the true motivations behind discouraging use, plus be non-judgemental.

Your comment about "Libs" constantly wanting to legalize drugs is inaccurate, insensitive, and inappropriate for the discussion. I don't think anyone here disagrees that whoever gave him the heroin should be held as partially responsible. However your comment could have gone without politicization.
