Hey efile, did you forget that you already said the exact same thing like seven weeks ago? Or are you a completely different person who is unable to think for yourself so you just stole someone else's comment? Either way, it's sad and it makes you look stupid.

Sorry, late reply. But yeah, I believe the police did get the video and is looking for people who might have been involved in the actual trampling, I suppose.

So are you a fan of Presidential candidates spending billions of dollars to get elected? Ignorant means unknowledgeable, uneducated or even disrespectful or rude. As the author of this article I do not feel that I displayed any of those characteristics. You disagree with what I said in the article and that's fine. But calling someone ignorant because you disagree with them isn't making a case for your argument - it's simply highlighting your own lack of knowledge and conviction on the subject. That would make you the ignorant one.

You'll certainly get no argument from me. I think it's been obvious to pretty much everyone, Obama supporters included, that the media had a clear bias during this election and maintains that bias today. I expect Obama will get a lot of support from the media and a much longer "honeymoon" period than most Presidents do as well.

Well, I'm not sure where you're getting your info so I can't really speak to the whole "extra-solar planet" thing. I somehow find it hard to believe that anything like that, if known by members of Congress, would remain a secret for very long. It wouldn't make much sense for Biden to talk about it before they even got elected to office either. I think I'll take a wait and see approach to this one.

Well, I don't know if this fact will have much bearing on how well Emanuel is able to do the job for which he has been appointed. However, I do feel that his involvement in the Freddie Mac fiasco should be noted and should have been more important in the decision for him getting the job in the first place.

You say politics itself is about money, but that's precisely the point of the article - it shouldn't be. Raising money to run for President is about guts. I never questioned the guts it took to raise that amount of money. The question I asked was whether or not Obama, by opting out of public financing, created a situation where he was able to use the record amounts of money he raised to not only create what could be considered an unfair advantage but also destroy a system that has kept Presidential campaigns in check for many years. Everyone does know that money is power, but they also know that once you bust that dam like Obama did (the dam being the cap of the public financing limits) there's no turning back and it will only get worse from one campaign to the next. Obama has destroyed the system that was keeping the campaigns at a large, though sustainable, level. The fear is now that whoever can raise the most money will be able to win. Presidential campaigns will no longer be about ideas or plans or reform, but about slick advertising and outspending your opponent. In a system like that, we all lose. I'm not saying that Obama's ability to raise money wasn't impressive, but what he chose to do does not earn my respect - it earns my disdain.

Jason A Clark : The Masses Fall At His Feet

I can see your point and concede some commercials could be considered fear-mongering. However, I would argue that pretty much all advertising for political candidates use similar tactics - after all, what are they selling other than the fear of what the other guy will do with his inferior experience, knowledge, or proposals? The questions posed by McCain in those ads were, and remain, valid questions that many of us would still like to know the answer to. I, and I'm sure many others as well, grew up hearing the phrase "you're known by the company you keep" so Obama's past ties to certain people was, and is, definitely something we have a right to be concerned about. To bring it up in advertising may constitute fear-mongering by definition, but I think it was a valid angle.

Well, when a candidate starts talking about spreading the wealth around and having tax rebates for non-tax paying citizens and increasing certain forms of government assistance programs you can hardly blame people for getting the impression that some people like this have gotten. So, I disagree with your assessment that Obama hasn't implied things that would make people believe this. Obviously, I also disagree with the notion that McCain has been fear-mongering in the manner in which you speak. Speaking the truth about a candidate's past or lack of experience or simply agreeing with that candidate's vice-president hardly qualifies as fear-mongering. Of course, the election is over now so it all may be a moot point anyway...

It's indicative because of what I've seen on local news and what I've heard other people say firsthand. Like it or not, factual or not, there is a certain group of people who really do believe Obama is going to do the things this woman is talking about.

Jason A Clark : Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Same-Sex Marriage

What? Marriage is an arrangement almost as old as civilization. It has ALWAYS been between a man and a woman. Marriage between two men or two women has rarely if ever been valid or legal anywhere in the world (especially until modern times). The recent court decision is what REDEFINED what marriage means. Proposition 8 is trying to undo that redefinition. When Obama and Biden said that they do not want to "redefine" marriage they were clearly implying that they did not want to change the definition from the traditional definition of one man and one woman...which we now know was a complete lie. You are the one who hasn't been paying attention.

I think you hit one of the nails on the head. The Federal Reserve definitely has way too much power. But it is obviously just the tip of the iceberg. Electing a President who wants to "spread the wealth around" would be a big step towards Socialism no matter what the media tries to tell us.

Well, I think it would take someone who feels slightly desperate (maybe like McCain, although I'm not sure he actually feels that way) to decide to make a move like this. I think once it's been done in one election it would be done by both candidates in every election from then on. I actually think the voters would come out ahead in the long run since we would actually get to see who some of the administration will be before we make our choice. It doesn't look like it's going to happen this round, though.

The different types of media being used certainly has something to do with it. Obama is still using a much greater amount of money for his campaign than anyone ever thought possible, though. This campaign is the end of the campaigns that we've known in the past. All future campaigns will be measured against this one. You can quote me on that.
