NavyChief, the newsies are correctly stating that the home invasion "took a tragic turn." After all, it is a tragedy that all three occupants of the home weren't properly armed and capable of defending themselves. It's a tragedy that two of the three miscreants were able to flee the home unscathed, and are still free to ply their trade upon other unsuspecting and similarly-unprotected citizens. However, it is worth noting that the responding officers knew the relevant statutes and didn't compound the tragedy by arresting the occupant who appropriately responded to the invaders' audacity. Hopefully, the occupant's handgun is still securely in his possession, and not stashed in an evidence locker somewhere. The latter possibility would truly constitute a tragic turn of events.
