I'd like to propose that if you run into them on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Homecoming, or any other span of time in which you would normally see many people from high school, you should only be obligated to talk to them for 1/3 of the time you would in any other situation.

Nice, concise, layout of a framework for making tough decisions.

I was faced with a similar decision when I had to decide whether to leave my corporate job and join a TS startup. At the time, I made a weighted pro-con chart, and eventually decided I had much to lose by foregoing the opportunity.
