The Wiire : Atari Announces Ready 2 Rumble Exclusively For Wii

Simon Cowell raising hell = free promotion the game will be able to profit from. I'm excited for this, I have faith in Midway, and the caricatures will make it an interesting and fun party game.

The Wiire : Sony and Microsoft Ignorant of Nintendo Competition

Keep in mind, Reisinger is the same guy who wrote famously "Don't believe the hype: Super Mario Galaxy is not that hot", saying things like: "The first thing that struck me about this game was the utter lack of beauty." Mind you, Super Mario Galaxy stands with "Universal Acclaim" by over 73 gaming publications ( http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/sup...) and gamers worldwide.

The Wiire : Best Buy Charges To Plug In Cords

It may be on first boot, but who does the first boot on a new game console? The kids. If the parent happens to not be around that one time, its buried in menus parents get lost looking in.

If parents can not figure out how to set parental controls on a console, it is the fault of the manufacturer for poor usability design. However, I'm sure some people will find use in it. Maybe if they bundled it with home theater installations, I could see it being useful.

The Wiire : Report Praises Games Industry, Disses Parents

There was news two weeks ago about Hillary Clinton publicly supporting supplemental game descriptions to game ratings. Basically a short blurb specifically related to the game, describing what it was about, to give parents a clue. Again, this takes active parents who actually care, which this report seems to conclude is the larger issue. But anytime government or groups can make it easier for parents to use sound judgment is beneficial in my book.

The Wiire : Former Microsoft Senior Exec Expects Movie Services on Wii

It's really interesting that he "expects" movie services from Nintendo to come. He's not saying it may happen, or that its a possibility. Expecting means in his mind, its a given. I think to a lot of Nintendo fans, this is really interesting perspective from a guy who's been in the the industry a long time. Dixon was voted one of the Top 50 most influential people in IPTV by IPTV Evangelist.

I don't know how the Boingz characters didn't get sued by Nintendo or Nick. They look like Pikmin and Plankton from SpongeBob...look and compare for yourself.
The Wiire : Study Says Wii Controls Don't Induce Violence

The doctor used the most violent game (and only AO rated one on Wii) for the test, and it still had no affect on people. What's interesting to me is that they're specifically trying to measure the influence Wii controls have, but they don't sample it against non-Wii controls (360/PS3), or even better the Wii version of a game where you can use a GameCube or Classic controller optionally. That seems like it would have been a more accurate and conclusive comparison.

The Wiire : Nintendo: We're Battling "Ourselves And Our Sense Of Complacency"

Is Nintendo actually complacent? I think a lot of people would agree they became complacent back in the day when they didn't have as much competition and they were king of the world. Then Sony & Microsoft entered. The GameCube didn't do so hott, so Nintendo takes a different direction this generation so they don't have to compete with them. Where does that leave Nintendo? If they don't want to compete with other companies, is that showing complacency? "We are not competing against Sony or Microsoft." - Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata, Fortune Magazine, June 4th, 2007

My first assumption would be the console names = hardware, video games = software. They are different products, different SKU's so it makes sense.

The Wiire : Nintendo to Host Wii Music Performance

I still believe in Miyamoto's original concept behind the game--offering a music video game that is about the creativity behind music, and not simply hitting the correct buttons at the right time and scoring points. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Nintendo has put enough effort into creating a polished game to back up, what I believe, is a solid and fresh concept.
