Seriously? Does Randy Leonard and the rest of the Portland city council have nothing better to do than to take eminent domain over a sign just because they don't like the idea of it saying University of Oregon? If the city takes over the sign than the city gets to pay for the continuous upkeep of the sign. Is this something they need to be taking on with an already short budget?

Since it is a public sign, anyone that owns the building would need to apply to the city for any changes made to the sign. Also, isn't this sign a historical landmark? So then all changes to the sign need to be approved. If the Univerisity is paying for the maintenance of the sign and their request for what they would like it to say is appropriate, then why should the city care? Randy Leonard just needs to get his head out of the clouds and work on something more important to the city.
