Gwen Bell Dot Com | Heart of the Start : A Guide to Falling in Love Growing a Modern Romance Online

Jay Craig, Joel speaks so highly of you. I can see why. This has got to be the most tender comment I've ever received - on a blog or otherwise. I almost didn't want to let it through the moderation queue! But one thing I've learned in sharing relationship online is that the world needs more tenderness, more openheartedness. It's not super flash, it's got its areas where growth is needed. And part of being open about our relationship is it helps when others can offer encouragement as you have done here. Thank you. I look forward to meeting you soon. IRL.

That gave me chills. Thank you for letting me know it touched you... You are right to say I have a deep and abiding appreciation for it, for him, for his family. There is a lot to learn about life and love - to be blessed with a partner you can share it with? That's a miracle. An evolving miracle that you work hard to keep miracleing.

This is the sweetest thing. Joel showed it to me on his iPhone when we were out dancing salsa last night. Love seeing proof in the numbers (and I think Joel was really impressed, too). Thanks for sharing this, Pete.

Met Ariel at BlogHer 07 and fell in love with her personality + style. It was the first book I thought of when we got engaged. Read it, loved it, haven't bought a single bridal magazine. Her book gets to the heart of the matter: a wedding can be a reflection of you two...and if you know in your gut what's right, do that and eff all the rest. I am no Martha Stewart (nor do I aspire to a Martha Stewartish wedding).

Fayza, you are so lovely. Thank you for this comment. It was a joy to hang out with you (if briefly...does Ed keep y'all chained to yr desks? I kid, I kid...) in Houston. Next time maybe we can pencil in some chill time. Sound good? I can't wait to see how your '09 unfolds.

Yes to all of the above, Amrita. Guy Kawasaki has inspired scores of budding entrepreneurs and getting to spend some time with him, if briefly, in his backyard...well, his enthusiasm is contagious offline as well as on. Hadn't heard of Anita's book but will check it out. Thank you for recommending it, chica!

Such a good story! Reminds me of another, less honest story about a friend of ours in Japan. He'd been in Japan 7 years and was making BANK. Every time he went to meet with a prospective client (usually a team) they'd take him out to dinner. He'd pretend like he didn't know how to use chopsticks. They'd teach him and felt the trill of showing a gaijin something about Japanese culture. Moral to the story? A half-truth in order to win people over may not be right for everyone, but it can certainly empower your audience to teach you something. Plead ignorance and let people teach you about their craft...who knows, you might actually learn something!

Thank you for sharing these insights with us, ThinkMaya...I think you have a blog post in the making here....you're right to point out that this gives women the opportunity to grow in the web as they move through the many stages of life...I love that. Thanks again for jumping into the convo and I look forward to continuing it in the months ahead.

I don't believe that a single website or podcast alone can address this issue. Lots of voices have to address it. Ours are but two and yes, I believe they matter very much.
