The original concept of Income tax was a tax the rich scheme. In the first year of income tax only 1% of the public paid any income tax... The 1% sound familiar? In the first year of income tax a full 99% did not pay any income tax... The 99% sound familiar? The Alternative Minimum Tax was originally designed to capture less than 200 millionaires that weren't paying income tax to pay Now the Alternative Minimum Tax due to indexing problems and expansion of the concept of tax preferences to include dependent exemptions and the payment of state property and income taxes (are those some sort of tax shelter? your kid is a tax shelter? Is paying state taxes is some sort of tax shelter?) now captures middle class families with children in high tax states. The IRS taxpayer advocate office has had reform or elimination of the AMT on its list for years and years. Congress says yeah, yeah and gives lip service but is addicted to the revenue flow. This is a separate stealth tax system. The current rant from the left is the Buffet argument that bootstraps the DNC and administration's new tax the rich scheme. Those evil hedge fund managers are taking advantage of all of us by getting their compensation in the form of low tax rate capital gains, Billionaires that pay 15% on income. We must stop them. Tax the rich. Here is the boogie man, poster boy for higher taxes.. that will soon have your picture on it. But who will be captured, dividends will be taxed at ordinary rates.. Do billionaire hedge fund managers only hold dividend paying stocks? Or do many retirees that will soon be squeezed by means tested Social Security payment reductions or increased taxes upon them. Do billionaires only hold capital assets that are subject to capital gains taxes? No all sorts of Americans are subject to capital gains. When you sell your life long residence, you might find you are rich? Or if you cash in the stock holdings in a 401 K, you might find out you are rich. But that is the real concern..any tax the rich scheme will get to you more likely sooner than later. You will be rich, if not today, you will soon be, based on the tax code, be it reformed or not.

Note: Maxine Waters faces one large threat, amnesty. Her district over the years has changed to a primarily Latino district as Black Flight to inland empire communities has run unabated. South Central is now a Latino community. Her district is now 47% Latino and only 34% Black, She has maintained her hold on power as a larger percentage of residents are illegal and are not supposed to vote (regardless of voter drives that have resulted in registration of many illegal voters). However, when and if Latino start voting in larger numbers and the percentage of black votes continues to drop, she will become vulnerable based on her myopic view of the world and service to only part of her constituency. She would be most threatened by a Latino Democrat candidate that could attract enough funding to overcome the huge Waters campaign fund and list of patrons she has created by your tax dollars over the years.

Waters’s office improperly worked in September 2008 to press for aid to prevent the failure of Boston-based OneUnited Bank, which eventually stayed afloat with the help of money from the Troubled Assets Relief Program. Waters’s husband, Sidney Williams, had served on the bank’s board. He owned stock in OneUnited that had declined in value from $350,000 in June 2008 to $175,000 two months later and would have been “worthless” without the bailout funds, according to the ethics committee. Waters contends, Politico reports, “that she would ‘never take extraordinary steps,’ to save ‘that amount of money.’” Her concern, she insists, was to help a group of black banks, not simply the one black bank in which she had an interest, and (now quoting from the Wash Post story linked above) she attacked the media for covering her ethics scandals but not her longtime work in pressing for minorities to get more government contracts and other federal aid, which she says was the reason she aided black-owned banks during the financial crisis. As Politico summarized her defense, Waters did not seek special treatment for OneUnited but rather tried to gain access to treasury for an association of minority-owned banks that otherwise couldn’t have gotten a meeting. In other words, so the Waters defense goes, she was simply practicing the sort of racial favoritism that is the day in, day out stock in trade of all Democratic politicians. Indeed, as the Washington Post reports, [e]ventually, the language in the TARP bill, which Congress passed in October 2008, included a provision that would aid small, minority-owned banks such as OneUnited, and the bank received $12 million two months later. That provision, “designed to aid OneUnited,” the Wall Street Journal reported last March, was written into the federal bailout legislation by [Rep. Barney] Frank, who is chairman of the financial-services panel. Mr. Frank has said he inserted the provision to help the only African-American owned bank in his home state. In short, the real scandal here is that the blatant racial favoritism practiced every day, not just here, by Maxine Waters and others is not regarded as a scandal.

All one needs to do to understand what is being argued in AZ and the effect of not addressing the problem... is to look at Ca. Public employee unions through contributions and electoral shoe leather have taken control of the Ca govt, Completely. They fund the elections of candidates at all levels of govt, from dog catcher to Governor. In the last election they handed Nicky Diaz to Governor Brown and ran ads like crazy that turned the tide. Every state office is now populated by the Union candidates. They will eventually take everything that isnt nailed down, and drive the state ever quicker to the logical end, bankruptcy. The current budget in CA is projected to run out of money in March... money that was supposed to last till Sept 30. That is how bad things are here, and Browns first two acts was the aforementioned union contracts and allowing illegal aliens attending school in Ca at in state tuition rates that the taxpayers subsidize to access public financial aid under the Ca Dream Act..(another spending program that hurts legal residents access to education) What was the 1st act of so called "Get Tough on the Unions Brown" and "Get Tough on the Deficit Brown"? To "negotiate" 6 new sweetheart contracts with the unions, that got him $8 million in campaign contribution and thousands of man hours of election work. These deals increased the deficit and the underfunded liabilities of CalPers (the second largest pension plan in the world). This is just the start, as the unions political machine takes us back to the days of political spoils systems ala Tammany Hall. it will be a bad day for the taxpayer and the public when the real shadow state govt is run in the offices of the prison guard union and AFSCME

she smoked... "um something.. ah.. its not marijuana but its similar to...ah.. its similar to incense.." Was it accidental or intentional? Ah... well it was..she smoked something...you know but ah...but she.. ah the reaction was accidental. What did she take. some form of..ah...I think ah.. unintelligible.. and then she smoked something.. I didn't really see.... Convulsing and burning up doesn't sound like exhaustion. Sounds, potentially, like she is dosed up on something else legal or illegal, (as the caller says she was having some issues lately with some other stuff so I dont know what she's been taking or not.) Could she have been smoking hashish and in in combination with other substances resulted in the 911 call. Or is it the new, what they call legal substances that have potentially severe health consequences. Who knows but it doesnt sound like exhaustion caused by working too hard, more like over medication and self medication. it is hard work being famous, rich and beautiful. Sounds like a long backpacking trip to go trout fishing is in order to get her away from herself and her enabling so called friends and publicists, before she or they do something worse. A little living a boring normal life might help. So Demi, call me, I can figure out how to get you some boring life therapy.

Here is the way it works in Ca. The legislature comes up with a crazy law or regulation. They say it will take effect 10 years or so from then. Why? Because when that law, rule or regulation comes into effect and grossly increases the cost of products or generates huge govt cost or tax, those politicians will be long gone.... out of office. The legislators that are in office will bemoan the fact but will say that is the law as it was handed to them, they are so sorry but that is that. We have a slew of social engineering laws that are hitting the books such as the new smog standards. We have the Ca Global Warming Law that is going to hit this year with the implementation of carbon credit auctions. We have mandatory green energy content rules for utilities. Last year the LA DWP requested a 35% rate increase to meet those new Green content laws. So the cost of cars will skyrocket to meet the standards. 15% of all cars have to be electric? What if no one wants them? And as the Toyota spokesman said, cars will need to change to meet the standard. Get smaller and lighter. How many more people will die or suffer serious injury in accidents, as a result of driving in a small plastic econo coffin/box. How much more waste will we produce (including heavy metal toxic battery mfg and disposal) as we buy high priced disposable cars, and switch mobile sources of pollution for stationary ones. Even if you plug it in, the energy needs to come from somewhere. How many more taxpayers and businesses will flee the state, leaving no taxpayers to pay the bills for all the tax takers that populate the state. Ca has 18% of the US popluation, but 33% of the welfare cases. The large illegal alien population is a net lose, even after one considered the low wages they are paid, the costs of health, education, welfare payments far out strip the wage benefits and make it a net loss. So soon, who will be left to pay the bills, and how will the poor and young, that democrats give so much lip service to, be able to buy a car to get to work. How will the elderly and poor be able to pay grossly higher utility costs to heat or A/C their houses. How many elderly on low fixed incomes will die as they cant afford AC in the summer? Sometimes these social engineering democrats have no idea how the poor and low income people are affected by their feel good schemes, hatched from their comfortable existences in West LA and San Francisco.
