1/2 of me says good for them; let them go, it's V-Day.

The other 1/2 says what a waste of resources and police time. Charge them with something (which they did).

Tough one.

Why? Because they are not built out of stucco, drywall and have the same ugly facade as the other 110 buildings around them?

See the 520 in Seattle. No toll booths. Simply pay virtually, through a card/account/prepaid funds, or don't use a toll card and get an "invoice" in the mail for a different amount (i.e. $1 vs $1.75). No toll booths and no increased traffic. That's how the 520 works and it works well.

I have no problem with tolling. The Sellwood bridge should have been tolled for all residents outside of Multnomah County (since Multnomah County residents are paying to build a new bridge through increased registration fees).

Would you rather they not talk about it and just starting building? Perhaps we can just round up a bunch of volunteers and start building from each direction in hopes that the bridge actually connects...

Not initially. In Seattle, as the 520 is being tolled, the 90 is still "toll-free" but I do know there is a plan in place to toll the 90.

Aren't tolls the conservative way to go though? Pay for what you use? Shouldn't we just eliminate all taxes that go to road maintenance and construction and instead having cameras in the sky that toll us based on where travel to?

Of course neighborhoods should be able to ban together and voice their opinion and attempt to reject a business coming in, that they don't want. Will it always work? No. Should they have that option? Yes. It's not as though they always win.

You have every right to petition, ask, protest against or do whatever (legally) to fight something in your neighborhood.

Sounds like that one Soprano's episode. Except this guy shouldn't get clemency and should be whacked. At least whacked somewhere.

I'm just asking the right question. I'm not a fan of the TSA or of pre 9/11 security. I'm an American-Arab and condone profiling.

They can blow themselves up in restaurants, malls, business, cafes, buses, schools, etc... What's your point?

Terrorists want glitz attacks. A plane in the sky. A subway. A bridge. I'm not condoning tsa and saying there aren't problems, but we can't go back to hiring 3rd party companies. I used to be in airline management and have seen pre 9/11 security from within... It wasn't pretty.
