Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 7/4 Colin Powell (finally) Questions The Obama Agenda

I've not seen any documentation to that effect either, in all honesty. But, do know, unbeknown to many, that Bobby was a prosecutor for Joe McCarthy before he was A.G., which would seem an unlikely alliance unless you knew that old Joe Kennedy, apparently, was a rabid anti-communist. Anyway, I find the whole thing interesting, if not complicated.

"did you know MLK was a Republician? " No I did not know that, but it makes sense considering Lincoln was on the right side of the abolition issue and the Democrat party was notorious for blocking the civil rights movement. And wasn't Bobby Kennedy A.G. under his brother Jack when MLK was investigated for ties to the Communist Party? Hmmmm

I agree, it would be dumb. If it was to distract from Gov. Palin, I'm glad it did fail. I hadn't heard of it until I saw it here.

OldMarine, You're right on the mark again. Powell is not stupid. I think he's an opportunist. I suspect he thought by throwing his party under the bus in the last election, he'd have a post in this administration's cabinet. Now, it's sour grapes and he's maybe trying to capitalize on his following in 2008 to run in 2012? Who knows, but as Rush said the other day, he doesn't speak for conservatives in any case. I think I read somewhere that Powell voted for Carter of all people. What kind of conservative, much less Republican, would do that?

Unrestrained by McCain's handlers, I think she be terrific. Not only that, if she were in a debate with Obama, she'd mop the floor with him. Sarah wouldn't engage him in a debate over an issue without first discrediting the premise of his argument. It would be as though he debated Limbaugh with lipstick. I'd buy tickets to hear that debate.

Palin / Patraeus 2012 does have a real nice ring to it! In any case, I want Palin at the top of the ticket, if she'll run. I hope she doesn't leave us in the lurch. I was optimistic when she spoke after she got off the plane in Ohio last summer, and completely sold after her AWESOME speech at the convention.... with no teleprompter. She's honest, shrewd, a tough competitor, and NOT a career politician, and NOT inside the beltway. She's one of us and I pray to God she comes back to lead this country. She's Reagan and Margaret Thatcher all rolled up in one. The party leaders all told us Reagan was "unelectable" before he was nominated, then won in an electoral landslide of 49 states. The press was unmerciful to Reagan with adhominem attacks. They attack her now so harshly because she is a real threat to the left. If she runs, she has my vote.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Vent through 7/9

Not likely, you are correct, the oath is obviously not on the mind of TOTUS. But this legislation might make enough of them stop and think, albeit briefly, and possibly cause some to debate, before just rubber stamping some of their hare brained schemes. If you can get the cars to stop blowing through stop signs at the intersection, and slow down, maybe there'd at least be fewer collisions. That's all. I know there is no one silver bullet, the problem is too big, but we need to take every opportunity to do what we can. If nothing else, I'd love it to be a distraction and take time away from the energy bill or health care.

I also beg of all of you to read about Ron Paul's bill that has 245 co-sponsors. Then, especially if your congressman is a democrat, call him and tell him to push hard on Barney Frank to get this out of committee and on the floor for a full house vote! http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/06/24/mr-pop...

I just heard the same baloney from the Usurper in Chief. Memo to TOTUS, the sun warms the earth, not CO2. Not that he doesn't care, because the energy bill has nothing to do with saving the planet and he knows it. It's designed to break the back of our economy while making the likes of him, Al Gore, etc., filthy rich and all powerful. Memo to TOTUS, when you put the coal industry out of business, the lights will go off all over the country. Of course, dear friends, I hope you all know congress has its own personal coal fired generating plant, so they'll be comfy while we're in the dark. I think my head is going to explode. I'll be in the streets of my state capitol on 7/4 admonishing my Senator Bayh who sent me an email saying he had to support the energy bill to save the planet. I'll suggest that he save the whole solar system and complete the set.

I feel your pain MollieB55. Fortunately I saw this coming, so I don't feel quite as let down. Social Security has been out of money for at least 17 years that I know of. They've been paying benefits with non negotiable treasury bonds (IOU's, Funny Money) all this time. The politicians spent all our savings long ago. They have no money for a health care plan and they don't intend to give us any health care. When we need it, they'll just have their "health czars" tell us it's not costwise, and let you and me go off and die. That's why Obama made the remark in one speech, something about being given the opportunity to take "pain pill" in lieu costly treatment.

Is BHO saving his frequent Air Force One flyer miles for his retirement? Is he trying to rack up a record or something? Did they have to disconnect the "no smoking" lamp for him? If so, is there a GAO report on the cost?

Caveat emptor There are no guarantees in life. You can cry in court all you want, but it won't replace your breast, likewise there's no reasonable remuneration for it either. So why drive up the cost for everyone else if it's really retribution one wants? Why not cut off the breast of the offending doctor instead, then pull his license so he doesn't do it again? Seems that would make doctors more careful, result in less mishap, and a whole lot cheaper than letting the government run things.

Reagan was a Democrat before he was a Republican. I believe his allegiance was to the people he serve and the constitution, and that trumped party allegiance. He spoke plainly, not trying to appease those who disagreed with him, so even if you disagreed, you knew where he stood. I see all these same qualities in Palin who was a first a wife and mother, not a ladder climbing career politician. She only got into it because she felt the school system wasn't serving her community as it should. And it went from there. While she identifies herself with the Republicans, her husband is a Democrat, but I think that's an asset because I like to believe they put each other before either party. So, there are Republicans trying to get her out of the way because she won't "play ball", and I like that! Thanks for taking the time to consider my viewpoint. Michelle Bachmann is similar with regard to her true conservatism. I think the only reason she's not been trashed is she hasn't shown any desire to leave the Senate. I also find women less corruptible in some ways than men.

Tip O'neal ran a pretty tight ship. I can't remember who lead the Senate, but I agree, the Pelosi, Reid, BHO trifecta is intimidating. I could live with Mitt especially compared to what we have now. But his willingness to meet the left half way concerns me. That was a trait non-existent in Reagan, and I see the same in Palin, she's not in the 'ol boy network of country club Republicans, and I think that McCain's people have trashed her is proof of that, and proof she poses a real threat, not just to the left, but the "moderates" of her party. She hasn't swallowed the "global warming" propaganda, McCain surely has. I haven't seen a hard stand from Romney on that, but I do think Romneycare gives him negative points in my view.
