/Film : Universal's Bride of Frankenstein Remake May Actually Happen

OMG! This might be the most original move Hollywood has made in years! A sequel to a movie they haven't yet remade (recently)! If it sucks, they can just hit us up with a prequel/reboot. If that doesn't work, they can just re-envision the entire franchise and everything will be OK!

/Film : The Stepfather Remake Movie Trailer

The problem with this movie is that you can probably guess the ending. Other than a few tense scenes that might make you jump out of your seat or gore that might make you cringe, the suspense is more or less lost in films like this. You know the stepfather is going to get impaled on some sharp tool in the gardening shed. Good for an end of summer release or just plain old Netflix. However, despite the predictable outcome, I actually enjoyed Disturbia, but then again I saw it on HBO. I think Sam Raimi set the bar too high for Hollywood with his totally original and frightening "Drag Me To Hell". I'd love to see some new horror/thrillers that are at least close to being on par with that film. Come on Hollywood, scare me...I DARE YOU!

Regarding M Night Shyamalan and "Unbreakable 2"...he desperately needs a hit ASAP or his career is over. I think getting Sam and Bruce back together for a sequel to what I though was Shyamlan's best film would be a great idea. "Unbreakable" was such a unique take on what superheros might be like in the real world. Hope he gets it made.

/Film : Question: How Has the PG-13 Rating Changed Over The Years (if at all)?

Excellent point. "Frost/Nixon" had a lot of profanity, whereas TDK did not. Yet TDK had a lot of intense violence that was completely absent in "Frost/Nixon" (a great film BTW) That seems to be the difference between the two. As we all recall from our youth, we probably all uttered far worse obscenities than Nixon did when we were in middle school, and talked about sex in explicit terms. Why people feel that kids under 17 aren't prepared to hear those words is completely beyond me.

/Film : Question: How Has the PG-13 Rating Changed Over The Years (if at all)?

It's kinda hard for me to have an opinion on this because I'm in my 30s and I can't remember the last time I recently looked at or worried about the rating of the film I was going to see. However, I the films I recall seeing that were PG-13 seemed to be hardly worth the rating that differentiates them from strictly PG films. In truth, there are some R films I've seen that I surprised me at the rating because I felt that there was hardly anything in them that a 16 year old has not already seen. Like that documentary, "This Film Has Not Been Rated" shows, the distinction is nearly always based on the sexual content of the film, not the violence. On that note, I have a story to share. I went to see "The Hangover", which didn't contain as much R rated material as I would have expected, save the photographs at the ending. However, the theater was adamant about carding anyone who looked younger than 21. A whole group of kids were turned away. Some of them got tickets while others claimed to have forgotten their IDs. When their friends were unable to purchase more than one ticket using their legit IDs, they started approaching strangers to buy tickets for them. One girl succeeded in this effort, only to be carded by the usher who was tearing ticked stubs. She ended up getting a refund. Bottom line is that the rating system is flawed and that some theaters enforce while others do not. Hollywood, theaters, and parents need to get a grip on what they think is appropriate for kids to see. Given the violence on the evening news, and deaths in the wars we wage, people need to start evaluating what our children are mature enough to deal with. A nude guy at the end of "Observe and Report" is hardly as disturbing as some of the shit that goes on in this world today.

/Film : Fame Movie Trailer

Never, and I mean never, remake a movie that has won and Oscar. Despite the fact that the recent trend in remakes makes me sick, I'm willing to go on ignoring it as long as the studios don't violate consecrated ground. While I'm not a fan of the original Fame, it one a friggin' Oscar, a feat that the remake is unlikely to do. My biggest fear is that this streak of remakes will eventually extend beyond 80s horror films and begin to include classics such as Lawrence of Arabia and Casablanca. God help us all when that day arrives.

/Film : Christopher Nolan Has Still Not Signed For Batman 3

I've been watching TDK on HBO the last few days and it just gets better and better with each viewing. It's a friggin' masterpiece! It would take an amazing confluence of talent, meaning the next choice of actor(s) to play villains, and script to match the intensity of the most epic superhero movie of all time. So, I'm not shocked that Nolan is hesitant. Though I'm certain that the right script and casting could bring Nolan around for a third go. The most important thing is that Nolan should trust himself and not listen to what the fans want, because I trust him outright not to disappoint me. I hate hearing that Nolan should do this or that storyline or they should cast such and such as the villain. Personally, I'd love to be surprised at what he and this team come up with. Again, if Nolan returns for a third installment, I trust him wholeheartedly to put his blood and sweat into bring us an awesome sequel.

/Film : Natalie Portman Cast in Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan

"...supernatural thriller set in the world of New York City Ballet." Huh? This sounds like a lame idea. While I love Verhoven's original version, and all it's '80-ness, I'd be interested in an updated version of "Robocop". Aronofsky could certainly introduce a darker psychological element to Murphy's state of mind after his transformation.
