I was finally able to make it all work. My once unlocked and jailbroken 2.2.1 2G is now a re unlocked and jailbroken 3.0 2G. What I learned:
- you need to download redsn0w, bootloaders, and the ipsw to XP if possible. It would not work on VISTA for me. It would download but in a way I could not open
- you cannot upgrade to 3.0 through iTUNES....well you can, but you have to click shift and restore to do so. DO NOT hit UPGRADE in iTUNES if you have an unlocked and jailbroken to get 3.0....you will have problems......do SHIFT and hit RESTORE after downloading the 3.0 ipsw to your desktop.

Ok...I have an unlocked and jailbroken 2g running 2.2.1. I went to iTunes to update to 3.0. It did something crazy to my phone. I am trying to fix it and having lots of problems. I downloaded redsn0w and the 3.0 ipsw.....it gets all the way to the download screen where it has the hard drive on the phone and does nothing else? What could I possibly doing wrong? What do you do when you download redsn0w, and go to open it up and it wants to open using iTunes? I've erased it and re-downloaded and does the same thing.

What happens if you do a RESTORE on your 2G and your phone is stuck in a strange emergency phone call mode? Can someone offer guidance on getting it back to normal?
