Fire Brand of the American League : What was Cherington thinking in Scutaro trade?

Then that's even worse, because he dumped Scoot for nothing and had no reason to.

Fire Brand of the American League : What Move Do You Want For Christmas?

I'm a Gio fanboy, but I'll pick Madson because the price for Gio is just too much. I'd love Kuroda too.

Fire Brand of the American League : Turning Two: Sox Sign Punto

I haven't been a fan of Punto in the past, but that's because the Twins gave him too much PT. As a backup infielder, you could do much, much worse. I want the backups to be defensive whizzes, and Punto is. Aviles is playing RF in winter ball. I'm guessing he's going to be a Bill Hall-type player this year, but without the ability to play center, which would be really useful.

Fire Brand of the American League : Don’t Kill the Red Sox, Count on Them

I don't think Tito was fired. He pretty clearly was done in Boston and made that choice, and the Red Sox didn't put up a fight because it happened to work out in their favor. I don't understand why people keep disrespecting Tito by saying he was fired. It is abundantly clear to anyone who wants to look that he wanted to walk away.

Fire Brand of the American League : The Closer, The Mop Up Man, and Everything In Between; Michael Bowden's Strange Year

Given Bowden is out of options, I wouldn't be surprised to see him let go to clear up a 40 man spot. If he is thought this less even after this jump in effectiveness, they would waive him anyways in spring training, so why not clear him out in October?

Fire Brand of the American League : Coast To Coast Tickets 8/4: Bedard Debuts, Hopes Arm Is Still Attached By Sixth Inning

Fire Brand of the American League : Should the Sox Deal for a Starter?

I think we need a middle of the rotation guy. You can acauire No. 5 types anytime you want. Kuroda is intriguing, but I actually prefer Bedard, even with his injury history.

Fire Brand of the American League : Coast to Coast Tickets 7/23: Best vs. Worst

I watched Lackey last night (and am back in the park for Beckett tonight) and just wanted to say that although Lackey's results were good, I was underwhelmed. None of his pitches had zip. He just lays them in. If he has no control, he'll get killed. And we have over three years to go.
