Really looking forward to looking through this. I've always been a fan of taking stock of what's been done and setting goals for the new year, but haven't gotten the chance to formalize it in this way. I'll let you know how it goes!

Wow, this is genius! But yeah, Khaki's. Other than being ugly, they also don't hold up well for winter bike commuting where you may get a bit of dirt/mud flung about. Denim can hide that pretty well, but khaki's are exposed.

AwkwardRules.net : AwkwardRule #3: multiple goodbyes

Ok, so guys, here's a scenario: suppose the cute but socially awkward geeky guy you're with didn't pick up on the signals you gave off on your date and you want to give him another chance before the evening is over. So, you make up an excuse to walk his direction (I've never done this, really, oh wait, yes I have), and then you get the downgrade??? Ok, this is an optimistic version of "Multiple Goodbyes" and I can't say I'm very good and getting/giving signals because my track record is pretty much off on all counts. But still, what if?? I can only hope that the times I've made up that excuse to "walk the same direction" were not met with the "oh crap, why is she following me now??". Good luck man, good luck.

Jon Fox : 5 Things You Shouldn't Do To A Developer Working On Fixing A Major Bug

Nice post. Yeah, I think the panic factor is the worst part about stuff like this. We know it's serious, let's not inject "the world is going to end" energy into the work environment--it's distracting. It's not like we're sitting there eating bon bons rather than debugging!

Brandon, leave it to you to come up with the appropriate place for recursion. It just goes to show that really it's about the right tools for the right job.

Very nice. Actually, PHP has very powerful date/time support which is nice. Here's a cool trick to get the last day of the previous month, especially helpful if you are trying to figure out Leap year stuff: mktime(0, 0, 0, 3, 0, 2000);

Dammit, Josh, you and your outside of the box thinking :-). And herein lies the very reason that I haven't gotten the chance to use recursion. I have hardly ever come across a reason for it and you've added another one to my list. Some day, some day, I'll find that perfect use case and we will live happily ever after...

Nice post. I saw all the #motrinmoms tweets, but I didn't get the full sense of what was going on. I think it also goes to show that what's funny in the brainstorming room doesn't always cut it in the public.
