Kyle Lacy, Social Media - Indianapolis : Egypt's Social Media Revolution

There's some evidence that mobile phones actually helped crumble the Berlin Wall and the fall of the USSR. The more information is provided freely, the more difficult it is to hide the truth and keep people in chains. I don't believe it's necessarily a 'social media revolution', I believe it's more a 'freedom of information' revolution. If the country had been blacked out, no doubt Mubarak would have brought in thugs as has Libya to tame the revolution.

Kyle Lacy, Social Media - Indianapolis : 25 Case Studies Using Twitter to Increase Business and Sales

This is 25 examples, but I hardly see these as case studies. There's no input as far as time, strategy, resources required, nor the long and short-term business resources. A case study is a comprehensive guide... not just a paragraph. I say this with respect, of course. :)

Are you mixing entrepreneurship with funding? Funding is all about the exit. Entrepreneurship is all about the entrance.

Pickylist Indianapolis social news and marketplace : 10 Indianapolis Social Media Rockstars #social - Indy News Sharing | Pickylist

@SM Rockstar - I don't think you have to make money to be a rockstar, do you? Personally, I've done quite well with writing, blogging, speaking and social media consulting... but I don't think that's a prereq. Scotty from @brewhouse should be on this list - he doesn't make money from #SM, but he's definitely a rockstar when it comes to leveraging the medium.

Marketing Technology Blog : You’re Not Sexy, Now What?

I think 'Not Sexy' is somewhat a badge of honor here in Indiana. Many of the companies here make applications that aren't too sexy... but they work. They're secure, they scale, they do what the clients want them to do. Sexy is great when you're looking for a date, but this is business!

Marketing Technology Blog : Is Google Really Trying to Make the Web Better?

Hi Dan, I moved all my images and theming files to Amazon S3. The combination of their power and loading from multiple subdomains reduced my load times from 10 seconds+ to under 2 seconds a page! Re: "A company selling online..." - everyone sells online now Dan. Everyone has a website... and most don't have the time nor the resources to make those changes.

Again... you're missing the point. 99% of companies do NOT have the resources to optimize their sites for speed - they're simply trying to stay in business. I don't disagree that speed is important... I made the effort with my own site to integrate with Amazon to get my page load times under 2 seconds. I just argue that this is an option for everyone. It's not!

No disagreement on speed as a factor, Dale. I simply disagree that a search engine should concern itself with speed. And not all of Google's pages and apps are fast. I had to rewrite much of Google Map API's KML parser to actually get it to work beyond a couple dozen records. Will they drop folks using Google Maps if Yahoo! Maps has faster load times? Me thinks not!

And don't forget Dave... after you do that, you can write crap content! No longer do you have to really work on writing better... just worry about faster! Oh yea... and don't worry about IE, Firefox or Safari... just make it fast in Google Chrome, right?

Marketing Technology Blog : Keep Your Promises

Nila, You're so right! I worked for some companies who had sales teams that simply sucked folks in with promises of grand results - that they knew they could not meet. The problem wasn't simply a sales and marketing problem, it was even deeper since it impacted customer support and the account management staffs. There's nothing more terrible than setting expectations you should not be committing to! Awesome post! Thanks so much for sharing!
