Do you notice a pattern, with each thing you legalize, the criminals will find something else to make money on. What is to stop the cartels from smuggling oxycotin or other scheduled pharmaceuticals? They are legal but controlled, will the liberals suggest we sell morphine over the counter to get rid of the cartels? You are talking about a large number of crime cartels that unless directly confronted will remain and enter one venture or another as long as there is money to be made. No the cartels do not want a welfare payment, food stamps and housing subsidy. They want wealth, they want power, they want control and they will seek out any and every avenue to achieve these means. Until we directly confront them, the problems will move around but remain.

To that I say - no they will triple their efforts in to prostitution rings. Even with open borders some girl born in central mexico will have a crap life there compared to coming here to "work" for five years, so she will willingly enter the trade.
