I think there's pros and cons to both sides of the argument. Govt relinquishing necessary and basic control (in this case deregulation) can lead to the kind of financial crisis currently gripping a large part of the world since uncontrolled crowds do not always necessarily make the right choices (they often are tinged by the choices reflecting the interests of the vocal or powerful sections). We also have scores of examples where govt. exercising control is counterproductive. However taking the media off the air was IMHO the appropriate exercise of govt. control. I didn't mean to suggest that govts. will always exercise control. What I meant to suggest was that in situations of fast paced movements, tense moments, and watershed points, I wouldn't be surprised to find Govts and other interested bodies wanting to exercise control and/or influence
