There were two episodes in season 2 when Jack was going to raise an army to defend against the Others, and then we never heard about it again. I've come to expect that from Lost; every once in a while some revelation will occur, but that's not really the point. The point is to watch Jack die. If Jack doesn't die, I will be so pissed.
