The Warne Account : AMAZING Virgin Blue email marketing error: congrats - you're Gold. No you're not.

Agreed John. It really was a massive mistake. If I was in Virgin Blue marketing I think I would have escalated it immediately to CEO level and figured out what could be done to soften the blow for members. I agree that a single entry pass to the lounge would have been a good idea -- Qantas does this for anyone who achieves silver membership, which is reportedly 40% of passengers flying with Qantas at any one time.

Low GI Cooking Recipes : What is "low GI"?

Good point Vincent... Libby's latest post looks at some of these sugar alternatives. Agave isn't necessarily as good as you might think it is, because although it is low GI, it is so because it is high fructose -- which puts a strain on the liver if eaten in large quantities. You can read the post about sweeteners here: http://lowgicooking.com/sweeteners/

Low GI Cooking Recipes : Your Suggestions

Hi Mike, Libby's husband Dan here. I've reinstated the "print friendly" plug in which had deactivated by itself for some reason (probably when we updated the plugins at some point) so there should now be a "print friendly" button at the bottom of each article. Hope this works for you!!

Thanks Joseph... have installed and tried out the Wordpress.com Stats plugin following your suggestion. Seems to have the same problem as other stats systems though, in that it will show you the most popular posts, but this includes old (but popular) content. My quest to find a system that can show the popularity of new content only goes on... (I also really need one for APCmag.com, which does not run on Wordpress sadly...)

Low GI Cooking Recipes : Pear chocolate fudge cake

I have to concur that this is one of your most delicious triumphs, Lib :-) It reminds me of my mum's Denver Chocolate Pudding recipe which was basically a baked chocolate self-saucing pudding made from pure evil (butter, sugar, white flour, squares of chocolate etc.) Here's one similar: http://mybakingadventures.com/2009/04/18/denver-c... Mum stopped making Denver Chocolate Pudding a long time ago (we called it Chocolate Denver in our family) once we all wised up a bit about eating more healthily, but I still lust after it once in a while when it pops into my mind. This cake tastes very close to it -- probably thanks to the rich 85% dark chocolate buds used in it -- but is actually low in sugar, white flour, fat, etc ...! Unbelievable. Served with low-fat, low-sugar icecream, with the cake warmed in the microwave, it's deeeeeelicious.

Low GI Cooking Recipes : Chicken, tomato and asparagus quiche

Hi Ninette, it's Dan, Libby's husband here.. I had the pleasure of eating this quiche when Libby made it the other day. The pastry was great -- it had a slightly bready flavour due to the sourdough bread content, and wasn't quite as crisp as butter-based pastry would be, but it was delicious nonetheless. The slightly bready flavour went very well with the egg and chicken -- the combined flavour was somewhat like a hot and delicious sandwich actually...! I loved the fact that I could eat it knowing it wasn't high in fat -- traditional pastry is always delicious, but you know it's going to be adding centimetres to your waistline, whereas this pastry was no worse than eating a piece fo toast (better, in fact, since it had the white beans added to it.)

Low GI Cooking Recipes : Hearty Apple and Pear Porridge (Oatmeal)

Hi Britt, this is Dan, Libby's husband... (and grateful eater of this delicious porridge/oatmeal every morning...!) Libby's referring to a dessert spoon as the measurement -- she's just talking about regular sultanas. So, 1 x dessert spoonful of sultanas. If you're not sure which one is the dessert spoon, there's a Wikipedia page on it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dessert_spoon -- they're the spoons you would normally eat breakfast cereal with.

I think it's because they buy the adaptors wholesale from cheap OEMs. I mean, they don't even bother to put their brand on the adaptor most of the time -- it's usually \"KMY\" brand or something.

Low GI Cooking Recipes : Herb-stuffed roast lamb with garlic confit

I definitely concur about how good locally grown garlic is. I had been becoming suspicious of Chinese-grown garlic for some time because of its 'pearly white bleached' look, which can't be natural, and the fact that it has very little taste. You can use six cloves of Chinese garlic in a dish and still only get a faint garlic flavour. Not to mention the worry about chemical pollution in Chinese-grown foodstuffs. I've been to Shanghai and Beijing and in both places, breathing the air was like inhaling liquid sandpaper. What I've been amazed at since buying some locally grown garlic is that (a) it is very tasty and has a really 'garlicy' aroma, which goes to show that the good stuff is still available and (b) there are MANY different varieties of garlic available. From mild varieties that are close relatives of leeks to strong, fiery/bitey varieties that will give you a nip in the mouth as you eat them, and have an extremely strong flavour. The ones Libs and I ordered most recently are giant russian garlic bulbs (still grown in Australia) and the cloves are giant-sized, so you can roast them and eat them with a knife and fork. Yum!!! We've ordered from australiangarlicfarms.com and melodycreekorganics.com. Australian garlic farms has a wide range of garlic types available, but they took quite a while to process the order, which was a bit annoying, whereas melodycreekorganics.com shipped next day after I placed the order online.
