There is one thing I don't understand which makes me pause from ridiculing them. Did they knowingly walk into Iran or was it an accident, or were they just close? I've read this differently depending on the source. They were in Kurdish Iraq which had a tourist movement in the works before this happened, I expect that is toast now. They should have been safe. If they were only close to the border and snatched, then I think we should have freed them with a raid. If they walked past a big sign saying welcome to warm and fuzzy Iran, then they are idiots and should have served some time.
