Great post. I am present and accounted for. ACORN is not quite a powerful as they may seem. ACORN is missing something(s) very important........................... ALL OF US! - Honest, Dependable, Patriotic, Hard Working & God Fearing as we may be.
It is completely agreed that at least 90% of our government has "issues". Whether it be lying, corruption, disenfranchisement or all of the above. I personally will be looking for some "new blood" in the upcoming elections. This is my plan not only on a Federal level but state and local as well. There are a few good politicians around, sure, but I say they must be sacrificial lambs so that we can "move on"..... absolutely no pun intended. Their time needs to be up, OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW. I would urge everyone to look for new candidates, not old politicians.
While I appreciate the comment, I must say I am a little confused. Maybe we are on the same page here, just written in a different language. I was not trying to win a political battle by Bible quotes. I was trying to make the point that you have elaborated on so well. The Bible is full of "killing". However, I believe the Ten Commandments warn against a different form of killing than you mention. Also, I believe that regardless on breaking a commandment, there is repentance. With that said I was stating my position that I do not believe that we should be organizing an armed revolt just yet. We have elections in less than two years now. We should be concentrating on organization of our voices and finding common ground and beliefs to add many more to those voices.
Well put 357. I do not understand the assault weapon argument either. Let's see, as you said, most are much less powerful with a shorter range. The only plus would be capacity. HMM.... now out side of a law abiding citizen just shooting for sport, shooting for competition or being a collector what would be the purpose. Well for some type of criminal activity. But wait, if you were involved in that odds are you would be too shady to pass a background check to buy it, so you get it ILLEGALLY! Seems it all comes around to people wanting to take guns from regular people yet not enforce the laws to keep the criminals off the streets and illegal guns from being sold.
I am not sure if I am on the same page as you guys but I do not see any way they will ever "take" our guns. First, there is way too much pressure on law enforcement as it is. As ruger pointed out............ I know for a fact that 99% of law enforcement anywhere close to here would quit before attempting it. So that puts the job on the shoulders of the government. This would be a law enforcement issue, so the use of the military would be out. However, there could be and special service unit created to do the job. The problem with that is.... it wouldn't last long. Especially is some of the more rural areas of the country. Ten guys go out and none come back. It wouldn't take long before they found no one to do the job. Now there might be some type of legislative "trick" but any red white and blue blooded American would be able to see through it. Something where you have to bring your firearms into a law enforcement agency to be "registered" and such. Then... they just keep em. However, this would only work on a very small percentage of people, so I think that is out too. Long story short, too late, I agree that though a law may be passed it can almost never be enforced.
I appreciate the feedback from you guys. However, ruger, we might not completely agree........... and that is alright. I do have a locking gun cabinet, locking ammo cabinet, and a safe for my more expensive stuff. However, I have two handguns at my disposal at just about any given time. Plus, I keep a shotgun out at home and at my store. With that said, my kids do have access to that shotgun. I have two teenagers... one is a girl. I feel much more safe knowing that if I am not here, there is easy access to some form of protection. Oh, I should have mentioned, I live in a rural county where there are usually only two deputies on duty at any given time. While I have preached that 911 should be called ASAP, that really isn't a reality in a bad situation. Some background on this.... I posted this on another reply some time ago. There was a major shooting years ago around here where a guy decided he would drive into a eating joint and just start killing folks. This was one of the major reasons I go into guns so heavy, obtained my concealed permit, and am very pro-active at making sure my kiddos know how to protect themselves. I refuse to be one of those types of victims or let anyone else around me become one. Hopefully this does not make me sound like a complete loon. We do agree on a lot.
I hate to nit pick... and mean no malice, but the original translation is in fact "murder". My God, and hopefully yours, understands that killing is sometimes necessary. Israel is a prime example. They are and have almost always been a killing machine (speaking in a military capacity). Yet they are The Lords chosen people. They had to be throughout time if they were to survive. With all of that said..... I am not... at least at this point.... anywhere near considering putting an armed revolt on the table. I believe that technology has given us many means to amplify our voices and it appears to be bringing people together. If we can hold it together for a few more years, maybe we will get the "change" we were promised.
Well, cherish, unfortunately "The Don" doesn't care about much except the money. That was my thoughts when his name surfaced in connection with Miss USA. He confirmed my thoughts tonight on O'Reilly. To agree with you guys though, it is great that she spoke her beliefs. She will be remembered LONG after the winner has faded away. It is quite sad how people (mostly the left) are quick to attack anything they do not agree with. They truly like to point fingers............... and we all know what happens when that is done.
It is nice to see someone that is a non gun owner still stand up for the second amendment. Thanks Indiana. It is your type of thinking that we need. Just because it is not your cup of tea to own a gun doesn't mean you have to oppose it. However, for an investment purpose you might give it a try! Prices have skyrocketed lately and it could be a good return if they keep rising. :) Keep up the very insightful posts.
Not sure where you guys are located but wanted to drop this info. In Texas, at Academy Sporting Goods, they seem to keep a good stock of .223 & 7.62x39 (both in brass and steel). These are probably the most popular calibers of course. They seem to have decent prices too..... considering. I just happened to stumble into one the other day and had a lengthy conversation with the salesman. He said they are ramped up to try and keep ammo in stock. Oh, FYI, they do reserve the right to set a limit, although I was told it rarely happens. Hope this info helps you guys find what you need.
