The Sports Game Guy : Mike Wang Back With 2K Sports

Privately, you'd have to think this will light a fire under the Live team, as if people think Wang did all the work in Live 10. I'm leery of heaping credit (or blame) on one singular dev and that seems to be what is happening in the hardcore community, similarly to Ben Brinkman re: baseball in 2006. Wang is a great dev, but he's still part of a team. People need not forget that in the last two years, Live made huge strides - but they did a have a hole to get out from. Wang was not there for the majority of the 09 cycle and that's when the swing started. I'd hope Wang tried to help change the culture he criticizes in these numerous interviews. Going from 2K with a couple hundred employees to EA with thousands of employees, he should have known there'd be more levels and red tape when it came to the dev process. That shouldn't surprise anybody.

pastapadre.com : Tim Tebow Rumored For NCAA 11 Cover

I'd add in Colt McCoy and Toby Gerhart as potential candidates as well. Should they add coaches in, Bobby Bowden and maybe even Urban Meyer could be sleeper picks. BTW - It's "Ndamukong". ;)

pastapadre.com : EA to Make Announcement Regarding Tiger Woods

This weekend I noticed the very generic game placeholders for NCAA Football 2011 and Madden 2011 at ebgames.com, but didn't find anything for a golf title. I wonder if they were told to hold off on that until an announcement was made on what direction they will go.

raczilla.com : Raczilla Top 5: Favorite Horror Movies

I really enjoyed the first half of 28 Days Later, but hated the second half of it. It seems people either love or hate it, but I fall on the dislike side. Good list though. Personally, I'm a big fan of the original SAW. Pretty good horror flick with gore, suspense, and a pretty well thought out plot. The rest of the franchise has been forgettable, but that first one is a classic IMO. I also like the remake of Dawn of the Dead. Gory, suspenseful, but also some funny moments to lighten things up.

pastapadre.com : August 09 Sales Numbers

Good post, Mr_EA_Sports. pasta - I am not sure how valid vgchartz.com is, but according to them the 360 version of NCAA 10 has sold 1,485 less copies than 09 did at the same point - at current rate, should exceed last year's pace next week or week after. The PS3 version of NCAA Football 10 has sold 48,652 more copies than 09 did at the same point. Minus the poor launch week sales, the game has exceeded sales of 09 each week. If correct, one could make a valid argument that word of mouth has helped the game.

Good news - devs have said the clock and ball over QBs head issues were both resolved after the demo code went final. It's weird - TW 10 didn't really revolutionize anything, but I've been playing the heck out of it, mainly due to the Live Tournament feature. I'd say to give it a rental at least and see what you think.

I'd like to hear pasta's thoughts too, but I really like Tiger Woods 10. Right now, my top three sports games of the year are: MLB 09 The Show, UFC 2009 Undisputed, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. Try the NCAA 10 demo. While it didn't add in any 'knock me over with a feather' features like Online Dynasty, they did add a lot of gameplay stuff in, along with TeamBuilder and some cool stuff in Season Showdown (Sportsmanship level to identify cheesers, ability to play favorite team's real-life schedule). If you really liked NCAA 09, then maybe you can go without 10. However, if you pulled your hair out due to some items in 09, try the 10 demo and see how that treats you.

I thought they made a relatively wise choice with the cover athlete last year, naming a player from one of the top basketball programs in the country with Love (UCLA). Personally, I think they'll do the same again this year with Hansbrough from UNC. I know I'm in the minority here, but I liked NCAA BB 09. While it had its issues (lots of minor issues all around, ranging from zone defenses to issues in Dynasty Mode), I felt it was fun and was the best college basketball game EA has ever put out. It's not on the level to compete with College Hoops 2K yet, but I think they are getting on the right track. I'm looking for and expecting big things from this one - namely, Online Dynasty hopefully. We already know Online Team Play will be in, so OD may not be likely. However, if they can shore up the gameplay and Dynasty Mode, that would go a long ways.
