Nope, wrong. Our government put the patriot act into place, NOT the American people. Very rarely does our government do what Americans want. ALL we can do is vote someone out and that rarely even works in our favor. Social contract is garbage and a fallacy.

As for paranoid Americans. I think most are not paranoid. I think most are just so fed up with a system they can't change without violence that they just gave up.

So you're telling us it costs the government over $1 bil to handle 650,000 reviews? That breaks down to $1538 per review? That's how much it costs to read some paper and slap a stamp on it?

All you did here is show how pathetically awful the government really is. Insurance companies handle MILLIONS of claims and it doesn't cost them a billion a year to review 650,000 records.

You are correct. Republicans supported this act and we need to remember this. But the real objective here is to repeal it.

1. A crisis is upon us
2. All of our rights must be given up to fight this crisis.
3. An enigmatic leader will lead us through this crisis.

Crisis is always used as an excuse to destroy liberty.

The reason the constitution does not mention privacy is because its assumed to be an inalienable right. The constitution is a federal government limiter. The constitution ALSO doesn't say the fed can't kill puppies so can the government kill puppies.

Also the constitution is very very specific about search warrants. So YES the constitution DOES guarantee privacy.

The most pressing threat to Americans is collectivism. Selling out all our rights to create a police state to protect us from some 1984 bad guy isn't going to stop terrorism.

But look what happens. Democrats get into office and use it to abuse and bully Americans. Its called "a gun in the drawer". Yeah the gun may work for you but if you leave it in the drawer someone else may use it to do harm.

Empowering the gov is not going to stop terrorism. Its just going to make the gov a bigger terrorist.

Has anyone noticed the people screaming racism tend to be the spoiled white people?

I'm all for the repeal but just remember this was republicans who pushed this through. Remember not more than 5 years ago republicans were defending this bill.

I 100% agree it needs to be repealed. We all knew it would be used against American citizens far more than it would have been used to stop terrorism.
