They should have had it so you roll up to the counter in your skis and the skis go through a 1 foot opening at the bottom so you can stand at the counter normally. It looked like that lady was standing sideways and ordering that coffee.

"That means that as a user, I cannot consume the data that I would have without the throttling. Limits are still limits, which do not exactly define an "unlimited" plan. "

Look up unlimited. =) It defines it quite fine actually.

"What is aggravating is when you are singled out and throttled down, thereby controlling your data transfer rates to a lower than normally attainable speed simply because they want you to spend more money."

I agree. But as someone who uses over 10GB a month in data (streaming documentaries on youtube and netflix), I understand why I'm being limited. I always thought it was crazy to allow it in the first place.

I see your point but it always comes down to the contract unfortunately. They explained everything carefully in order to get away with "confusing the consumer". It's any company that wants to succeed in this competitive market. I think it's great. And by the way, isn't it pretty idiotic to put your signature on something you haven't read? "You" meaning the people. Thanks for the discussion.

You should also try thinking logically. They ARE providing you with unlimited data. How hard is that to understand? The speed is irrelevant to the statement "unlimited data". And again, the contract explained it all but nobody reads that.. So who is thinking logically? Sounds like AT&T is to me.

" In my opinion, if they sold him an unlimited plan, then he should get unlimited use of his phone"

Well then you are happy because that is exactly what you are getting! He can download and use his phone as much as he wants!

I'm sorry that you don't see it that way.. But that is how it works. They provided you with a plan that stated you would get unlimited data. That is exactly what you get with that plan and that is what you have today if you have AT&T. They never guaranteed you any speed. In fact, the speed is completely irrelevant to them calling it an "unlimited data plan".

Unlimited data plan. It's exactly how it sounds. It's not called "unlimited data plan with X amount of speed at all times"

Datsuyama... With all do respect, you are still wrong. Unlimited data means you have the right to use an unlimited amount of data. The speed is irrelevant.

"Think about it - if they reduce the speed you can DL data to say 56kbs, there is a maximum amount of data you can transfer in your billing cycle as a direct result of AT&T reducing your data transfer rate. It is in fact no longer "unlimited."

This does not make any sense. No matter what the speed is, you are still "limited" to a certain amount of data. Whether you have 100MBPS (impossible on cell phone) or 56kbs, you are still limited to a certain amount of data. You can only download so much with 100MBPS.

I hope that makes sense. Either way, AT&T is right in every way in what they did and you would have zero chance with a lawsuit. They sold unlimited data with fluctuating speeds. They can NEVER guarantee any speed and even any amount of data as the speed dictates the amount of data you can receive.

Edit: Unlimited definition - not limited; unrestricted; unconfined: unlimited trade.

Unlimited Data would mean a "not limited" amount of data. That is still the case. They are providing you with "unlimited data". Speed is irrelevant. Hope that makes sense. Cheers

Incorrect. You still have unlimited data even when it's throttled, making the claim accurate. It just takes you longer to do things. Not only that, but it's all in the contract that every consumer signed. A class action lawsuit would be thrown out before it even reached the desk.

Once again.. Blaming a company trying to make money. How many years will it take to get adults to understand to read the fine print? What AT&T did is completely okay in this world. They provided a service with a contract. Within that contract, they explain they may lower your speeds. In fact, they even explain that they can cancel you whenever they want. They also don't guarantee coverage.

Sorry people but this is once again, the consumers fault. AT&T is just trying to free up space so everyone can enjoy the internet. Personally, I've been using 10+ GB for over a year on my smart phone and they have turned my internet speed down to the point where I can't even open a website.. But I'm mature enough to understand that I agreed to this. Why aren't you guys?

Actually they did notify customers. Both via SMS and email.
