Big Journalism : Why Is CBS's Steve Kroft Ambushing Politicians?

She didn't answer because she knew if the American people found out that Congress was allowed to "legally" engage in insider trading, the money train would be de-railed. How do you think these people make their cash? And why do you think they protect Wall Street? They say they are following the rules and they are. There is a law that allows them to trade on inside information they obtain in the course of their congressional duties. Anyone else would go to jail. But Senators and Congressmen can make money off of otherwise illegal activity. And some of them may even stand up there and be able to say "they don't trade", because their family members or a proxy does it for them.

Big Government : Saturday Open Thread: Fawkes Edition

The OWS'ers have Guy Fawkes and the Tea Partiers have John Galt. That, in and of itself, should be enough for any person to judge each movement. And whichever one you choose should be enough for others to judge you by.

Big Government : Is Cain Able to Kill the Tax Code?

If that's true, then why are you the only one bringing up race? It seems to me that nobody here (whether they support Cain or not) cares about what color he is. But you do. In fact, you're the only one who does. Everyone here is discussing the merits of his economic plan. You, on the hand, seem to be OBSESSED with his race and have taken every opportunity to talk about the man being black. Seriously, nobody cares. Only you. Get some help.

Big Government : Justice in Texas

I don't think "pride" is the word I would use to describe the way we feel. When you have a rabid animal on your land, you put it down. It's almost finished. There is one more and then it will be done. And the third will never see the light of day.

Classy. While I have never been offered a bribe, my experience has been strikingly similar. They are all so sleezy, I want to wash off the filth of having to appearing in court with bleach and a brillo pad. And yet, they all think they're such wonderful people. Since this ruling was handed down, we're going to have a break for a month or two. So I can get some rest. But this will probably drag out for at least another 6-10 more months. The only real reward I'll get from this will be the potential prison sentences these hedge funds may face.

Unfortunately Cowboy I'm involved in this one. That's the reason I haven't been able to post here on the Bigs for so long. I'm a shareholder in this case. I'm also a Pro Se objector like Nate. I've been traveling back and forth to Delaware, appearing in court for the last 8 months or so. The truth is, Nate saved the shareholders back in December. And we've been fighting like crazy ever since. There is a lot dirty stuff going on in this case. I've had quite an education about the bankruptcy courts. I do have to say, it's nice to have a reason to be back on the Bigs again. Even if it's only for a day or two. I've been eating, sleeping and breathing this case for so long that I don't know what's going on in the rest of the world.

And Appaloosa retaliated against Nate by attempting to get discovery on him. Nate stood his ground, refused to comply and Appaloosa withdrew their request. But you get the idea. They have no compunction about using intimidation tactics to silence anyone they feel is a threat.

Believe me, I know plenty of people who have lost money (including myself) because of the hedge funds and MM's. No one in the press has wanted to report on this case for three years. Now that this judge has come down with this finding, the press is going crazy. If people knew what really happened with this company and in this bankruptcy case...they would bring back the stockades.

Unfortunately they don't. A complaint has to be brought to the bar against an attorney and even then it might not be considered. I was a Pro Se objector in this case and I caught an attorney lying in open court. I also caught him filing a document with false statements. But that doesn't mean that the judge will refer him to the bar. And with so many enormous issues in this case, unfortunately, complaining about a lawyer lying almost seems petty. It's disgusting to imagine that they can do this and get away with it. The one relief you have is to keep diligent track of their unethical activities and then file a complaint with bar. If you get a group of provable offenses and then have multiple parties file complaints...you have a better chance of getting some sort of action taken.

Big Journalism : 'Flakes,' Feinstein and Fox News Sunday

No disrespect to anyone, but the meaning of the word "flake" has been lost on, not only the author of this article, but most especially...Chris Wallace. A "flake" is simply, an unreliable person. It's not a ditz or a scatterbrained individual. And flake isn't really a word that I would use to describe Bachman. I can understand how someone could make the mistake. After all, it does sort of sound like the definition. But it isn't. It's often used in combination with the word "out" as a verb. Example: She flaked out (She didn't show up).

Big Government : Congratulations to Airman Julia Pollak, From Your Proud Breitbart Family

While I've no doubt that Pollock is qualified for OCS, the Navy and other branches are starting to require degrees for enlisted personnel. I retired a little over a year ago and they were beginning to implement this change. I'm sure that if troop surges are needed for some reason in the future, this policy will be relaxed, but for now, it is highly encouraged. And if you are a careerist, it's required. Also, there may have been a specific job Pollack wanted that was not available to officers. This is the reason I went enlisted. If she couldn't get the position as an officer, then she would take the enlisted route in order to secure it. If you love working with animals, you don't take a position as the Zoo's public relations head. Even if it pays less, you take the job working with marmosets.

Big Government : Union Superpowers! (Featuring 'Wisconsin Vern')

"How about "Guns dont kill people, guns help people kill people?" Yeah, and almost twice as many people die from car accidents than firearms. 15 times more people die from tobacco than guns. In fact, more people die in this country from bad health and smoking than all other types of death...combined. Oh, and I once heard about a guy who died from sticking an industrial tire pump up his backside and turning it on. He literally exploded. So should tire pumps be banned? Cars? Cigarettes? Food? No. Just guns right? Are you gun-control nuts ever planning on using logic or facts in your arguments? Ever?

They're holding him in jail for threatening to rat on the banks. Assange has been divulging secrets on the US for years now and...nothing. The second he announces he's going after the banks, there is suddenly an international manhunt for him over some broken condoms. Woohoo. Interpol is such an elite police force.
Because there are 20+ times that many individuals world-wide attempting to infiltrate our intelligence, attack this nation, or simply work the other side. It may seem like a large number, but consider how many other countries exist in the world and of those, how many consider us a target or intelligence priority. How many people do you think China, Russia, Iran and North Korea have working the US? These nations only have certain priorities. We have to work the entire world.
