Every contribution is a 'special interest' no matter how small. People support a candidate because that candidate has views that match most closely with theirs. Remember, too, that it is corporations that are the employer of many workers. If they cannot influence conditions that are more favorable to their needs, they will not be as successful and continue to grow and expand their workforce. There is a balance that needs to be maintained so that one side or the other does not prevail in all cases. Otherwise, there is too much danger of greed ruling the day at the expense of the individuals freedoms. It is not a clear black or white choice, where corporations are evil and the individual is always right! Corporations deserve to have their views considered, also. Economics today is such that you get what you pay for and in the case of the democrats, you get what you don't pay for also.
