The flaw with this is that those in power (both democrats and republicans) along with so many of our fellow citizens no longer see the world this way. They've been fooled into believing the propaganda that the government is the best way to solve the world's problems. Changing such a fundamental outlook with someone is a difficult task. It's taken decades of indoctrination to get to the point we're at now
