From my experience, I can tell you if you have large amount of RAM (more than 1GB) then you do not need this utility. My PC has only 256MB RAM (I am using XP on it which needs at least 512 MB for smooth operation), so by using optimizer I am able to free up some RAM which helps to work with ease.
I assume you get your answers. One more thing while this utility will be freeing RAM you may see delayed response but it is a necessary evil. I advice to disable auto freeing. Only free RAM manually when you need it.
