So is the workmanship comparable to a private garage, just cheaper? If getting my own parts and them taking longer are the only drawbacks, I'd let them give it a go.
Somewhat related, have any of you guys (and girls) ever thought about taking auto classes in the evenings? I'm mediocre at working on cars (OK, I admit it, I'm a danger to myself and most people near me when working on cars), so I was thinking about taking some evening classes to bring my skills up. Thoughts? I'm a systems admin by day, so it wouldn't be able to interfere with my day job, but I have an affinity for older cars, meaning that wrenching on them myself could save some cash.
"still cause my loins to stir in ways no European car can" - BMW is European... not sure how to break that to you since you're an "M3 owner".
That worked now hat I'm home. Thanks, that was pretty cool.
How did they get the hatch to stay up for that long?!
Thanks for the correction.
I believe that I misspoke - I think it was Diaz. He left shortly after being banned from commenting.
I will look that up when I get home this evening (youtube is blocked at work and on my iPhone while I'm in the office). Thanks!
I just bought it as a commuter car - mine could only go to a car show if they have a "survivor" class. It has somewhere north of 250k miles on it (the odometer likes to randomly stop, so real mileage is just a guess). It has been taken care of and doesn't have rust (which confuses me, as I'm in Indiana), but it does have some dings, one dent, faded paint, and some scratches. I save $50 per week when I drive it instead of my Silverado (2500 4x4), so it paid itself off in 6 months of driving to work. Plus, it's a lot more fun that I expected, and people that have had one or know about them always give it a nice smile and wave in a parking lot. Sometimes it's as if you can see the person space out thinking back to when they used to drive or ride around in one some summer long gone.
I'm saving my bottle (that stuff's pricey at $3!) for tonight. I'm going to go smoke myself a 'Vette. He'll never see it coming!
Gizmodo recently got rid of Chen...
Related, is he the only Gawker writer to get blocked from commenting on their own site?
I daily drive an '81 Scirocco S (beater). In the first few months of ownership, I actually had a guy pull his car sideways on a side street, blocking me from making further progress to work. He then pulls up to my window and informs me that he also has a Scirocco... and a lot of parts. As people lined up behind me, I decided to get moving, and he was yelling his email address at me as I pulled away, along with his VWVortex username. I do need to go to that site to inquire as to some odd parts, and one odd electrical issue, but my run-in with that user in the real world has left me feeling a bit uncomfortable. I generally like VW fans, so I'm sure that he was just a bit over-the-top... I hope.
