Big Government : WH Caves: Obama to Announce 'Compromise' on Birth Control, Abortion-Pill Mandate

I still fail to see how exempting churches and religious organizations from being forced to violate their principals is the right thing to do, but regular ole business owners with principals are still going to be forced to support violations of their beliefs. Liberals keep telling us that corporations aren't people, yet here they will only allow corporate entities first amendment rights but not individuals. Any mandate that any organization or individual MUST provide these controversial coverages in the insurance they offer is wrong. How would these liberals feel if someone came along and required them to finance their employees gun or bible purchases?

Big Government : Caucus Open Thread

Just got back from the caucus. There were 51 of us in our precinct ... Mitt Romney got 1 vote (ha ha). Ron Paul got 4, Newt got 18 and the rest (29) went to Rick Santorum (who apparently just won Missouri). Keeping in mind that I'm in one of the most conservative precincts in one of the most conservative counties in the US (I'm in Colorado Springs) I still figure Mitt has the best chance of taking Colorado, but boy I hope Santorum pulls it off.

Big Government : Why Many Young People Love Ron Paul and Why Many Older People Despise Him

Go re-read my comment. I said "...he repeats the same anti-American rhetoric that the "Blame America First" liberals do (albeit for different reasons and with different solutions)." The parenthetical statement there is the important bit you may have missed. The left says these anti-American/Blame America First things because they believe America, capitalism and western culture are evil. Ron Paul clearly doesn't believe those things, but he uses THE EXACT SAME PHRASES AND RHETORIC that the left uses and THAT is why older folk don't like him. I believe that Ron Paul loves America, the Constitution and Western Civilization, but when you use the same terms and phrases that the enemies of America, the Constitution and Western Civilization use you're going to turn people off. Again, that is more the reason that older folk don't like Paul than the author's assertion that we're all just too stupid to realize that he's right about the Fed. I also disagree that the problems in the Middle East are "largely of our own making" ... They are largely the making of a schizophrenic with homosexual and pedophilic tendencies that codified hate and warfare into a so-called religion back in the 600s AD. Kissing Muslim backsides doesn't make them want to kill you any less (in fact it encourages them).

Older people don't despise Ron Paul because of his economic/Fed policies, they despise him because he repeats the same anti-American rhetoric that the "Blame America First" liberals do (albeit for different reasons and with different solutions). He comes off as a joo-hating truther. Love of country is seen by young people as at best outmoded thinking and at worst nothing better than jingoism (and thus bad). Even some young conservatives. Ron Paul appeals to a lot of other young people that reject the socialism that has dominated Democrat policies and platform for the last half century (or longer ... I'd say the party crossed the line to commie with Wilson but the rank and file didn't get there until the 60s) But buy into the lie that conservatism means you have to agree with the Christian Right and other lies the Dems tell about Republicans (like that we're repressed, un-fun, sexist, racist, homophobic bigots). As far as Dr Paul's policies on the economy and the Fed, I have met maybe 5 Paul supporters that can actually explain his policies at all. Most of them only know that the Fed is a private corporation (and thus evil) *facepalm*.

Big Government : Big Labor Plans Super Bowl Chaos

Hopefully. The sooner decent workin' folk realize that the Unions represent the Occupy kids and the rich Democrats in DC more than the dues paying workers the better. We had a ballot initiative here in Colorado an election or two ago that would have made us "right to work" ... I'm still surprised it failed and didn't get the support of a lot of working class conservative Republicans I know.

Excellent! (rubs hands together while laughing maniacally) I've been waiting for Big Labor to rip their mask off and show us the mustachioed face of Stalin ... too many Americans believe that the unions are looking out for the workers. Interrupt their [the workin' man's] Super Bowl and you'll wake up millions of sleeping laborers to the anti-American greed/hate machine that is organized labor. pay for these thugs, or keep their own wages from them. *** Just In *** Washington Post reports unions have backed down and will not disrupt the Super Bowl. “The president of Indiana AFL-CIO is promising union members will not disrupt the Super Bowl festivities in Indianapolis” Darn :(

Big Government : The 2nd Amendment: A Concealed Carry Permit

While I agree with you that that is their plan, its clearly not working. AWB not renewed (most of them thought it would be a slam dunk to renew). CCW laws expanding across the country. Heller case pretty much incorporated the Second Amendment (and will lead to other gun bans falling). Its so bad that they had to give guns to Mexican drug cartels to try to make the case for more gun control and you can see how that blew up in their face.

If you, like me, think Meryl Streep is an incredibly gifted actress, “The Iron Lady” will not disappoint you. I'm with Katharine Hepburn on this one ... Streep is over rated. "... click click click as the wheels turn in her head..." But if you have any rational recollection of Margaret Thatcher, well, I can’t recommend you watch this negative, extremely biased production. Oh, so I have TWO reasons not to watch it.
Big Hollywood : Politico Buries the Lede: Stephen Colbert Met with Audience Indifference in SC

I'm saddened that most people don't realize that Stephen Colbert is a tool of the Frankfurt School Critical Theory crowd and Saul Alinski (the man has made a career out of Rule #5 alone). He's not merely a comedian or satirist, he's a tool of the left and the Democrat party to mock and undermine conservatives and Republicans by polluting the water and diluting their message (and it seems to be working since so many people in that focus group appeared to take him seriously at his word). When he runs as a Republican, he's not just having a laugh and making a few bucks but he's there for the very serious mission of undermining a Republican candidate selection process that is already a [rhymes with Buster Duck].

: Three Fundamental Mistakes in Dealing with Islam

Ann Barnhardt outlined the biggest mistake we make with Islam recently (however her blog isn't set up to link to single posts ... which is extremely frustrating). Her point is that we keep falling for the big lie that Islam is even a religion. Here's her words: This all goes back to the false premise that islam is a religion. I can't overemphasize this enough. So long as Western Civilization continues to fall for the lie and stone-cold con that islam is a religion and not a totalitarian political system, then we will lose. You CAN NOT build anything, much less an entire civilization, upon a false premise. If you start from a false premise, then you will end up with a false answer that *appears* to be true. Arguing that islam is a religion is like starting a mathematical proof from the premise that 0 = 1. *If islam is a religion, then it is constitutionally protected. Since the core tenet of islam is the overthrowing of all secular governments, the Constitution of the United States itself demands that musloids be permitted to wage war against the United States and its Constitution with NO RESISTANCE. In other words, the Constitution demands its own destruction. 0 = 1. *If islam is a religion, then the free exercise of islam is constitutionally protected as a fundamental human right. Since a core tenet of islam is the genocide and total extermination of the Jews, the constitution demands that musloid extermination of the Jews is a fundamental human right of the musloids. In other words, killing Jews is a constitutionally protected activity and human right, while the Jews have no right to exist. 0 = 1. *If islam is a religion, then free exercise of islam is constitutionally protected as a fundamental human right. One of the core tenets of islam is the subjugation of non-muslims by either execution or the paying of a tax. The constitutional guarantee of equal protection under the law, confirmed by the words of the Declaration, "all men are created equal" is thus self-nullified by the First Amendment which guarantees muslims the right to free exercise which requires societal superiority of musloids and the required deprivation of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness of all non-musloids. 0 = 1.

Until we scrap the current primary system and stop letting Democrats in Iowa and New Hampshire pick our candidates we're not going to get another Reagan (or better yet another Coolidge).
Seriously? 4 states get to pick our candidate? AGAIN? Like I said in the open thread: Something has to be done about how we (Republicans) pick our candidates. I was raised in Kansas and live in Colorado so basically my entire adult life even though I've been registered a Republican I've never had ANY say in who is the candidate that is supposed to represent my party. Instead my candidate has been chosen by a bunch of Democrats in Iowa and New Hampshire. THIS is why we get crap moderate candidates all the time. I propose that we do away with the current state-by-state caucus/primary system and 6 months to the day before the general election we hold one single nationwide primary, and require it be a CLOSED PRIMARY (no more Democrats and "independents" monkey-wrenching our candidate selection process) and a week later we have the convention.
