Offbeat Mama : I feel neutral about gender-neutral parenting

Thanks for the post. As a gender-variant, non-parenting adult, I love to hear that posts about parents giving their kids more options and comment threads with gender-neutral pronouns. And I would echo hsofia's sentiment about following the child's cues & just how important that is. Allowing your tomboy to express a love for trucks and your fey son to like pink is important, but your uber-girly daughter will tell you when she wants tutus. A child can both have hir/her/his particular gender identity validated AND be taught to respect and love the gender expressions of others (i.e. recognizing in 25 years "Boys can like dolls, too."). And sometimes gender non-conforming looks, to the innocent passer-by, a lot like gender conforming (http://www.femme-cast.com/). One of my favorites: http://labelsareforjars.wordpress.com/

Offbeat Bride : Should I shave my armpits for my wedding day?

Such beautiful words! I'm the video curator for genderfork & thought you might like some solidarity: http://genderfork.com/?p=2034 and http://genderfork.com/?p=4142 Rock on! As someone who was once convinced by a bride (my sister) to dehair for her wedding (legs, pits, chin & all- it was heart-breaking), I can assure you I'll never be swayed like that again.

Yup, I've long enjoyed this movie. Watched one day I was home sick, but I think the streamed version with captions I found had text in French only. It was good practice :)

Offbeat Bride : Laura & Gosia's Beautiful & Fun, All-Bride, All-Dress Wedding

At an ultimate frisbee tournament recently a married couple tried something similar to the soccer game: husband & wife showed up with enough friends to make 2 teams, then picked players out of a hat. The spouse with the worse-ranked team at the end of the weekend had to switch his/her name to that of his/her partner.

Genderfork : Recommendation: Wicked Desires

Oh- question for the deaf & Deaf folk & anyone else aware- I've taken enough ASL to know that it's closer to French Sign Language than British. I only just now learned Auslan exists. So I recognize that even if I find signed videos, it might not cater to all English-readers. The goal is to continue reaching towards wider audiences. Besides nagging my ASL-proficient friends to make gender-related videos and promoting facebook groups which champion captions on YouTube, do you (anyone, of course, not just Rory) have any tips for where to find videos that better serve these (i.e. deaf, Deaf, hoh, allies) segments of the population? [i can has armadilloz?!]

Thanks for mentioning this. I've subscribed to the channel & been watching for months, but most of the videos are /so long/ and there are so many videos, that it's been really tough. I want to show one with content that really shines, but the ones that I like most are often longer than we like to post on GF. If anyone has any personal favorites on this channel that they want to pitch, I'd love recommendations.

Well you have my admiration for being multilingual- I know I definitely take for granted the ubiquitousness of my native language. I can imagine that getting some of the subtlety of English would be, as you mentioned, not so intuitive. (and I don't mean to throw big words at a non-native speaker on purpose! They just came out of my mouth and I don't know how to put them back in!)
