Big Hollywood : Daily Call Sheet: Hannibal Lecter: The Series, 'Phantom' Beats 'Star Wars,' and Mourning Whitney

NBC is going to take a behind-the-scenes look of Hannibal's life. Sort of like how Elaine Benes had to ghost write a biography on the life of J. Pederman. In the series, we will see Hannibal water plants, clip coupons, brush his teeth, cook breakfast, trim his nose hairs, pay his taxes, and do his own dishes. It will show the real man. Not the celebrity image, but the real man! If that isn't original programming, then nothing is. :-)

Breitbart.tv : Geithner: It's Fair Top 3% Pay As Much Tax As Other 97%

Poor Timmy! He is like the little Dutch kid trying to put his finger in the dike. And the holes just keep coming. He is getting his just punishment for tax evasion now. He is having to defend Prince Obama's idiotic budget plan. Good for him, but bad that the rest of us have to suffer.

He got his start by producing a YouTube channel called the Young Turks. Current TV can't find enough marxists in broadcast journalism departments so they had to look online. Current TV has also hired the dancing baby and Charile-bit-my-finger for populist critique.

Yeah, it is kind of funny. He thought so little of Current TV that he just showed up like he was working at home. I'm surprised he wasn't wearing his bathrobe. In fact, he should have been. It would have created a more proper context for this discussion. Also, I am willing to bet that more people will see this clip from Breitbart TV than who watched it on Current. Cable TV ain't what it used to be.

Breitbart.tv : Dershowitz: I Won't Vote For Obama If Associated With 'Stalinist Bigots' Media Matters

You might be right, but I can't imagine that it is a result of some type of puppet master who controls all of the strings from the left. It doesn't sound plausible. Bottom line is if you are going to strongly support anti-Israel regimes and factions like Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. then you can no longer assume that Jews are going to continue to support you. Remember that Jews have always supported Democrats because original antisemitism came largely from the "Country Club Right" and because Democrats were largely the interventionalist party for most of the 20th century-- meaning that they supported Israel much more than Republicans. It has only been since Reagan that this shift of Republican support for Israel started in earnest and Democrats did not move aggressively away from Israel until Kerry/Obama. It takes a while for an ethnic group to collectively come to their senses and shift their vote and support. So you might be right on Hillary, but I don't believe it is coming from a source of strength and omnipotence.

Big Government : Free Market Health Insurance Provides the Best Vehicle for Religious Freedom

I used a poor choice of words suggesting that contraception should not be covered. What I meant to say is that anything that is planned should not be considered insurance. Insurance has historically been about mitigating risk. Anytime we KNOW that a cost will be incurred, then having insurance cover it only increases the cost of the treatment or creates fraud or some other ill because now a 3rd party is involved in the transaction. Imagine if everyone was forced to sign up for "haircut" insurance. You could visit your hair stylist anytime you wanted and get a free haircut, all for one low annual fee. What would happen? Well, people would get a lot more haircuts. Others who like their hair long, might visit the stylist, and instead of a haircut get a kickback from the stylist who would get credit for a haircut she didn't give. Bald people would have to pay for haircuts that they don't need. Dozens of market inefficiencies would be created. Now, contraception is a small thing, but our insurance rates are higher because of all of the benefits that have been added to the system. There is no free lunch. Having said that, people should be able to purchase haircut insurance and companies should be able to provide this service, just don't force everyone to buy it. That was really my major point. I didn't mean to suggest that we should force an insurer to NOT include a contraception option in a healthcare plan. Only that from a free market standpoint, subsidized birth control via insurance really doesn't make a whole lot of sense-- unless our society universally benefits from having fewer children. Which is a completely different discussion.

Breitbart.tv : Budget Director Claims Obama Put Forth 'Balanced Budget'

No kidding. This is like a page out of an Orwell novel. I mean these guys aren't even trying. It is so blatant and the MSM is so far past feeling, that they can't even figure out why this sounds so wrong and yet be so comforting and assuring. It is time we changed the word 'department' and 'secretary' to 'ministry' and 'minister' to better reflect our reality. MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell: "We've just heard from Minister Zients, direktor from the Ministry of Truth. Thank Obama we have such qualified public servants who are willing to grace us with their presence at this difficult time in our people's history."

Big Government : Fast and Furious: Arizona Sheriff Paul Babeu Says Holder Has Perjured Himself

In today's world, it seems like perjury is such an antiquated notion. Ruined years ago by Slick Willy, the idea of perjury seems to belong in a bygone era, like the Model T or a candlestick telephone. Sadly, none of the Fast & Furious investigation is going to matter. When public servants are no longer moral, ethical people, then there is really no recourse for the United States citizenry to pursue. Will they actually arrest Holder? He is the Attorney General, will he investigate himself? Will Ken Starr come back to do an independent investigation, just so he can be demonized by Obama and the media? Will Repubs have the heart to stand up on this? Is it worth the fight? People, we are now reaping what we have sown over the past 50 years. Our republic was designed for a moral and righteous people. It is ill-equipped to handle the affairs of jackals, liars, and cheats.

Big Government : Free Market Health Insurance Provides the Best Vehicle for Religious Freedom

I think we are in agreement on this. I am not suggesting that businesses shouldn't provide insurance or that a variety of plans shouldn't be created. We should have that freedom. I was only suggesting that what started out as a good idea or a competitive advantage has been co-opted by government and has since become over-regulated. I have always been a big fan of health savings accounts to cover things like glasses and contraception. And I only suggest that healthcare that is planned for in advance shouldn't be considered a part of an insurance plan because it simply doesn't make sense. BUT it should be an option for people if they want to pay for it. Good example of this approach are airlines. Southwest doesn't charge for bags, but does charge for a seat assignment. Delta charges for bags but not for a reserved seat. Be free to make your choice with whomever you want to do business with. It should be the same with insurance. For example, a couple in their 50's probably doesn't want to subsidize others for contraception.

Agreed. The reason that giving birth is so expensive in the first place is because of ambulance-chasing lawyers and the fact that the hospital has to cover every contingency in advance of the birth. It makes for a very expensive procedure.

Breitbart.tv : Et tu, Main Stream Media? ABC Tapper Says Obama's Budget Represents A Broken Promise

I've been watching Jake Tapper over the past couple of years. He seems to be one of the few MSM members who gets it. At least to some degree. He will probably fill the vacuum left by Stossel when he left ABC for Fox. Or at least he could be the next Tim Russert. It is so sad there are so few uncorrupted journalists these days.
Big Government : Free Market Health Insurance Provides the Best Vehicle for Religious Freedom

First of all, I believe that a free market approach is the right one. But this article mentions many approaches that have significant flaws. A few problems with some of the free market solutions: 1) Employer-funded health insurance. This trend started soon after WWII in the competition for quality labor. Employer plans were an added benefit in addition to salary. I agree that having individuals purchase plans and having employers increase salary levels to help pay for it would be preferable at this time. But are we going to take away the rights of a business to offer this benefit? Do we have to be as draconian as the progressives in forcing a specific outcome? 2) Purchasing plans across state lines. Unfortunately, the constitution clearly discourages this. For the same reason Obamacare is unconstitutional, so would be some type of mandate that would remove individual state sovereignty on this issue. The original idea was that one state like Massachusetts or California could have a socialized plan to cover everything while a state like Indiana or New Hampshire could take a libertarian approach. You live in the state you want and you influence local politicians to see things your way if you are unhappy. The idea of crossing state lines is no more constitutional than Obamacare. 3) Contraception, doctor visits, chiropractors, eye glasses, etc, etc, etc. should not be under insurance at all. Insurance is about mitigating your individual risk. I am willing to spend a little money every month to make sure than if I get cancer, then funds will be there to help me get better. Contraception is not about mitigating risk. The idea that any of these non-risky items should be covered under insurance is a step in the direction of socialized medicine pure and simple. So the entire premise on this back and forth argument is completely false. Also, to get serious about healthcare reform, we need to break the AMA's stranglehold on healthcare. I don't need a doctor who has been to school for 8 years with 4 years of additional training to take 5 minutes to look at my 5 year-old, concur with my opinion that he indeed has an earache and then charge me (or my "insurance") $100 for the visit. An RN or some other licensed practitioner with less credentials can make this assessment for less money and probably overall better care. In addition, with the Internet now at one's beckon call, most moms I know can do a better job at diagnosing a child's issue than a doctor. They cannot be an expert on everything at all times, but of course, they are trained to have tremendous egos to instill confidence. But seriously, how often do we visit the doctor and get a good diagnosis? Something needs to change. Repeal Obamacare and get to fixing our healthcare system for real. To do nothing or return to pre-Obamacare will not work.

Story: I am sorry but I have become a one-issue voter. (I never thought I would.) The only thing that matters over the next 5 years is the federal debt, the annual deficit, and the corruption in the halls of Washington. Everything else is a side show right now. Our house is on fire and arguing about abortion or gay marriage or immigration is the equivalent to reorganizing the kitchen cabinets while the fire and smoke rages around us. The reason I became a one-issue voter is that many of the other problems we are dealing with including Obamacare, immigration, social issues, military, etc. will be naturally fixed when we learn to balance our budget and cut spending. So whichever candidate can do that best gets my vote. So yes, earmarks and the attitude associated with them is a big deal to me. I don't want us to look like Greece in 5 years and that is where we are heading very quickly.

Ok, I agree that most of us have "awakened" in the past few years to a better appreciation of the role of government, the Constitution, spending, etc. And you might be exactly right about Santorum changing as well. One thing that does bother me, is that McCain is on record saying that the reason he gave his support to Romney was because Romney was the only candidate that convinced McCain that he would be serious about reigning in earmarks permanently. You can say alot of negative things about McCain, but he has been a tiger on Washington spending and earmarks calling them a "gateway drug to corruption." He did not feel as uplifted in his discussions with Santorum and Gingrich on this issue. So take that for what it is worth.
