You forgot to pin the blame on Assad's father for dumping the Kuwaiti babies out of their incubators in 1990, and then covering up his diabolical actions by joining the US coalition against the Iraqis!

Normally, I'd agree with Ian and Nathan, because the Russians certainly have an appallingly bad record of putting their money where their mouths are. However, faced with the prospect of having their navy shoved back into the Black Sea and seeing it forced to be based in ports in areas over which they have no direct control (Sevastopol, in NATO-candidate Ukraine, is hardly a long-term guarantee), they may decide that this one is worth fighting.

It's cut from the same cloth as the Israeli bleating that, even with possessing the largest military in the Middle East and the only indigenous nuclear arsenal in the region, they're "existentially threatened" every time a Muslim uses the toilet without permission from Tel Aviv.

News From Antiwar.com : US, Iraqi Officials: Al-Qaeda Behind Syria Bombing, Arming Opposition

"Elements of al-Qaeda’s affiliates in Iraq have been moving into Syria to distribute weapons to the opposition and to carry out attacks against the regime of Bashar al-Assad, according to U.S. and Iraqi officials." Here I call foul, for a more blatant piece of disinformation never existed. The idea that "elements" of the supposedly "decimated" Iraqi Sunni Islamists are somehow distributing weapons numerous enough and powerful enough to require the use of Syrian artillery and tanks to counter is not only unbelievable, but indeed could only have have been promulgated by an entity - to with, the Zionist FedGov - known for its unlimited contempt for the intelligence of its citizenry. No, the Syrian Islamists, who do indeed form the core of the rebels, have been receiving Iraqi weapons from US controlled stockpiles of the Saddam Hussein era.

The perplexity of Washington's initial response to the Egyptian uprising points very strongly to it actually having started as the result of popular discontent. The lack of direction of the protesters, who clearly had no agenda other than to get some sort of change, severely contrasts with the smoothly programmatic nature of the color revolutions. However, as I have said before, the FedGov doesn't stay clueless for very long, and it obviously came up with a contingency plan in short order and has tried to implement it. But operations planned in a hurry have a tendency too fail for lack of planning and missteps in implementation. The NED organizations were clearly involved and almost certainly carried out their tasks with an arrogance that attracted the attention of the Egyptian regime. To arrest politically well-connected US persons is to play with fire, for I can assure you that the FedGov elite does not willingly submit to being placed in such situations, even for a PR stunt. Nor does it willingly allow its subversive activities to be publicized. If the FedGov wanted a PR stunt, they'd have recruited a few recent college graduates, desperate for work, as patsies to be caught.

News From Antiwar.com : As Reports of Violence Grow in Syria, So Do Western Calls for Intervention

"Syrian state media claiming regular terrorist attacks" Meanwhile, on the home page of antiwar.com there is a link to a BBC story about what can only have been a well-prepared attack on Syrian security forces that inflicted hundreds of casualties. The unnamed color revolution in Syria has been sufficiently weaponized that the Western propaganda press is starting to become comfortable with reporting serious blows against Assad's regime. And not so coincidentally there is a simultaneous uptick in the warmongering against Syrian ally Iran. As they say in the spy world, there's no such thing as a coincidence.

The so-called two year experiment was to use the US diplomatic presence to create a CIA base in Damascus. With a civil war now raging, it's "Mission Accomplished" for Ambassador Ford. Does the name "Raymond Davis" sound familiar?
