Feld Thoughts : Minor Behavior Modifications

another vote for OneNote. Really slick, and perfectly horribly marketed by MS. Synched on all my computers (including a Dash) via Groove. Everything works perfectly, except: don't try groove on 64-bit windows, and don't throw a Mac or an iphone or a spanner into the works.

Andrew Hyde : Someone is Going to Get Burned, Why The Boot Camp Model is Dangerous

Andrew, this is a great post. Your perspective on the lack of visibility of alternative places for apprenticeship is thought provoking! Most entrepreneurs have an "I can do anything!" perspective...while this is good and valuable (and even necessary), I think that it often times overwhelms another valuable mindset, which is "where can I place myself to learn the most, and the most rapidly, about what interests me?"

David, kudos! I showed your original post to a number of people who were paying for the $1/pop vitamin pill...hopefully it saved some of them money...you wrote what many of us wished we had written, which is always a great sign! Tom

Paul Kedrosky: Infectious Greed : Oil and the Kedrosky Cusp

Well...the Kedrosky Cusp is the price at which oil is trading now...and now...and now... OK it's not that simple since the ratio between produce surplus and consumer surplus is not 1:1, but rather a function of market structure and related elasticities. In the long run, elasticities are infinite and net out, and producer surplus goes to zero....so the Kedrosky Cusp (long run) is the marginal cost of oil... .

Feld Thoughts : Amazing Powers of Concentration

I hear young people (particularly internet people) say all the time that they're "multi-tasking". I don't believe it, and never have; I just can't figure out if it's brilliant or lame to cite an ancient 1930 quote: " time and energy are lost not so much on the operation itself as in passing from one operation to another."

Feld Thoughts : Glue and Comments

Eddie, it's a great question. Integrating with Facebook is on our short list. (Any experienced Facebook developers want to help?) In the long run, it will be self-defeating for Facebook to be a walled-garden. The new social web is open - which is part of the reason that IntenseDebate is all about integrating your "comment-like" content from everywhere, and making it available everywhere.
Jon Fox : Life without Google

"Does this make us stupider? " - apparently you still need a dictionary on your desk!

What I see has nothing to do with memorization of trivia, and more to do with attention span and the ability to think deeply. I increasingly see young people not being able or at least being unwilling to spend an hour thinking through something complicated, ie "if the answer is not on Google then it is not worth knowing."

Present company excepted.

Rob Johnson : How to be a TechStar Part 2: A guide to Boulder's Coffee Shops

A couple of additional thoughts:

a) I am a regular at the Trident, but only for socialization. They have no outlets, hence aren't laptop friendly. I rarely eat there any more, since when I look in the muffin display I often see a cockroach.

b) Saxy's is remote worker central - nothing also ran about it. And far more Angels frequent Saxy's than The Cup. They don't have a mac vs PC attitude - everybody just gets along. Sure, if you want Mac attitude, go to The Cup, but if you're beyond that, then...

c) re: Feld & Amante: take note! I doubt whether Brad could turn down an offer of Amante Gelato!

Ryan, are you willing to buy phones for your buddies and save everybody else the wait in line? :)

And, I'm of the opinion that 2MP is fine, given the quality of the lens, which is what really limits picture quality these days anyway...right?
