Blame anyone you want. Yes it's very hypocritical but no one forced her to marry Brown or abuse drugs. In Hollywood or Deadwood, it's nearly impossible to stop really determined self-destruction. RIP Whitney.

In fact, it was Springsteen becoming "The Boss" and making a gazillion bucks that ended his Everyman appeal for me. By the way, Born in the USA was anything but a proud to be born in the USA anthem. You might want to listen to the lyrics closely, if you thought it was.

"Born down in a dead man's town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
'Til you spend half your life just covering up"

RIP Whitney. Springsteen's shtick is getting very old as is Paul McCartney who, at least, was entertaining even though his voice is but a shadow of its former self. I'd like to hear Adele produced differently. With a voice like that, the slightly over the top arrangements aren't necessary. I liked the guitar work but The Foo Fighters are badly in need of a singer.
Nicky Minaj? What the hell was that? Preposterous, pretentious, petulant and musically pathetic. The Grammys can't find anything remotely better than that in an attempt to be edgy? Yikes that was just bad verging on lame.

Much ado about nothing. Basically, a boring game with a boring halftime show. Did someone flip the bird? How progressive and edgy! Yawn.

Imagine? WORST SONG OF ALL TIME??? That's just so totally ridiculous and saying so makes you an absolute musical moron. Hey, I'm not saying it's the best but ... do you even listen to music? I pronounce you a professional troll.

It may surprise you that I have read Conan Doyle. Seems to me that Holmes solved crimes using deductive reasoning, not his fists. Making him into Batman may please you but other than attempting to make a ton of money off of those who have no idea of the nature of Holmes, the logic eludes me. Each to their own.

Holmes as action hero? The first film was a travesty and although I like Downey, I will avoid this like the plague. Is nothing sacred? What's next? Joan of Arc with super powers?

The Monkees had the best writers and musicians of the day producing their music. Of course it was top notch stuff and some of it, stands up well. They then, thinking they were an actual band and real musicians, proceeded to shoot themselves in the foot by insisting they do their own songs and play their own instruments. Proving also that they weren't The Beatles. This was either an act of great integrity or incredible stupidity, depending on how you look at things.

First of all, I like Michele Bachmann and hope she does well. Secondly, as a songwriter and musician, I believe that Petty is within his rights to protect his brand. To his credit, unlike Baldwin (unless I missed something), Petty did not assail Bachmann, he merely said she couldn't use his performance to enhance her campaign. And yes it is rather conservative to not want to lose money by having your image damaged in the eyes of your "customers" and it is America wherein Mr. Petty is allowed to support the party of his choice.
OTOH, my understanding is that, Bachmann could get another singer/guitar player to perform "American Girl" at her appearances and there would be nothing Petty could do about it.
In the end, I hope Mr. Petty, like myself and Andrew Breitbart and so many others, eventually comes to his senses.

I don't believe Dylan has anything to apologize for. I couldn't say it any better than Tony Norman in this article.
