As a native Alabamian, and a personal friend of Spann, then I loooove this! Of course there were warnings, I am living in Ga now, and not in that viewing area, and I still knew about it.

Big Hollywood : Top 5 Worst Films of 2011: From a Super-Dud to Sandler's Sorriest Effort to Date

JGWI wasn't a good movie, but it did very well at the BO, like most of Sandler's films. 215 million, and 17 million DVD. Jack and Jill was much worse, and is basically breaking even at this point, but will probably pull in more from overseas and DVD. IOW, Sandler is going to keep making these kinds of movies, as long as they are pulling in bucks.

Big Hollywood : 'Homeland' Finale Review: Anti-American to the Core

I'm not sure if I'd classify the show as "Anti-American." We don't know what the endgame is, we don't know who is lying to whom, so there's a good chance that Saul is still a mole, and we are unclear of many of the motives of the others. I think the idea is to show there's murkiness in all government operations in wartime. And, like it or not, Abu Grahib was a great marketing tool. You are right, they seem to imply that Brody will be taking the Weiner character's seat, but also that the VP is supposedly an amalgamation of Cheney and Rumsfeld. I'm not giving up on it, yet, I want to see where it's leading.

Big Hollywood : Joe Rogan on Miley Cyrus: 'She's Delusional'

The strange part, Cyrus works her butt off, is involved in 24 charities, and other than the dumb video last month, she basically is one of the most conscientious of the young stars. Supposedly, she is extremely professional and always prepared and on-time. At just turned 19, she needs to be cut some slack.

Big Hollywood : The Curious Case of Christoph Waltz

Maybe he just needs a decent script and someone who knows how to utilize his talents. Tarantino did it once, hopefully, he'll do it again. If a few bad scripts dimmed all Oscar buzzes, then how would DiCaprio and others still be getting roles? I am crossing my fingers for Django, Tarantino led me places I did and didn't love in IB, so I hope this isn't one of those trips.

Big Hollywood : Thanks, Mark! Ruffalo Explains Occupy Wall Street

Why, it's like you're implying he sounds like a shallow actor that cannot form an independent thought without the hive mind mentality of his fellow camera whores! Surely that can't be true, everyone knows that writers get their inspiration from the actors who are willing to share their fascinating and deeply intellectual stories with them, allowing them to imagine characters that are the envy of all the hoi polloi.

Big Hollywood : 'Pulp Fiction' Blu-ray Review: Much More Than Just a 'Royale with Cheese'

It's not an elitest response. It was merely a comment regarding what people look for in films. Some prefer the simple, basic plots with little dialogue, and others prefer something that requires deeper thought. I cannot imagine how anyone would find Tarantino's references "beyond the average person," but I guess that's why so many Americans still avoid independent films or foreign films, either a fear of the unknown, or perhaps lacking the ability to understand a more complex film.

The fact you call Tarantino films "wordy" and lacking an interesting stories, tells me you are not a cinephile. Some people go to the movies to see a simple story, going from point A to point B without any deviations, with tight dialogue and that is fine. Those movies are for certain people, and it sounds like you are one of them. However, people like me, and others who appreciate QT's films, we are looking for lots of dialogue, enjoy his sequencing and what you call "dark humor." We enjoy the obscure references, and homages to other directors. I've seen all of his films, maybe 5-6 times each, and find something different each time.

Big Hollywood : What Shoulda' Won the 1997 Best Picture Oscar?

Without a doubt, Boogie Nights should have been number one. Something I always appreciated about Tarantino, is that when listing his top 25 movies of all time, BNs is always right near the top, and he says as much as he loved Jackie Brown, Boogie Nights was a better movie. Jackie Brown is one of Jackson's best performances, ever. Great film. I always thought that was classy. I'm also going to add the same thing I always do on these retrospective posts by Cam-MORE! One of my favorite BH topics.

Breitbart.tv : NBC News' Bashir Attacks Herman Cain During Eulogy For Civil Rights Leader Fred Shuttlesworth

My husband is the same age as Cain, grew up 30 miles from him. What this dumbass Bashir doesn't understand, and what my husband has told me repeatedly, is that there were no problems in his HS when intergration occurred, and his time in college with AfAm's was totally uneventful. You studied, got your work done, and prayed you wouldn't get sent to Vietnam. He has told me that in 4 yrs of college, there was one protest, not on race, but against Vietnam. There were three people who attended. Regardless of how it's painted, not all of the South was wrapped up in racial issues.

Big Hollywood : Non-Controversy Surrounds 'The Help'

I'm Southern, majored in language and dialects. The African-American accents in the movie were fine, not exactly right, but close. The problem with sitting through the movie would be Emma Stone's horrific accent. It is jarring and distracting. It is known as "Con-Airing," or "Doing A Cage" referring to Nic Cage and his attempts at a credible Alabama accent in the movie Con Air. It is typical for Hollywood, they will teach you perfect Farsi, but don't expect them to get a regional Southern accent correct. It's not that they couldn't get better dialect coaches, it's that they don't care.. Well, that translates to me not watching their movies.

Big Hollywood : Morning Call Sheet: Buh-Bye Netflix, Profit-Whore Lucas, and The Worst Movie Accents Ever

I am constantly on the topic of bad Southern accents. Every time I see a movie/tv show with Southerners, I feel like I'm being smacked with a stick. They range from Deliverance to Foghorn Leghorn to Gone With The Wind. It's bad enough the stereotyping, but they hire all these accent coaches to teach everything from Farsi to Italian, but no one seems to be able to handle a simple Southern accent. There are two new films, The Help, and one coming out soon with Jude Law and Orlando Bloom that just make me cringe. Adding to that, there's a new tv show for this Fall called Hart of Dixie that not only has atrocious accents, it has the whole stereotypical "Southerners have cotillions, live in shacks, drive old pickups, and don't know they're pregnant until they are about to deliver" tropes. ARRRGGHHHH!
