Oddly, had the Titanic headed straight for the iceberg, it would not have sunk. Only one watertight compartment would have ruptured, and the boat could have survived that. The order to turn came too late to avoid a sideswipe that opened 5 of them. The order came too soon to allow a head on collision that would have been survivable. I heard one man say that 30 seconds either way made the difference. Now, if you had some moron Captain pouring seawater on the coals,prying rivets out of the hull, shooting holes in the lifeboats, and crying "Unfair!", "Racism!", or "Mean-spirited!" when anyone with common sense said the ship is in trouble- your analogy would be complete.

Saw it with my Wife, High School aged daughters at midnight last night. My Wife liked the romance, the girls loved the movie, I did too. Honor. Valor. Duty. Self-sacrifice. All of these patriotic virtues are displayed by the 90 lb. Steve Rogers. I got a little misty eyed at scenes in Camp Lehigh from that gutsy, determined underdog. When he gets transmogrified into Captain America, the hero he has always been on the inside becomes visible to all. Nice Stan Lee cameo. Nuff said. Do stay all the way through the stirring music in the credits to see a preview of 'The Avengers'. .MINOR SPOILER ALERT . . . . The Girls weren't familiar with the story, and were a little confused by the ending in the modern day and ( as avid romance novel readers) were saddened at the romantic conclusion.

All these remakes are a little depressing. Just saw the Amazing Spiderman trailer. Looks good, except the CGI looked cheap, but isn't it a little soon for a re-re-make?? OK, "Lucy" was filmed before a live audience, too, but that was before I was aware of it. The Yak-Tracks of the shows I grew up with in the late 60's and into the 70's annoyed me because I could pick out the same sounds repeated over and over.

I remember this as one of the first sitcoms to film before a live audience . They asked for viewer comments when they made the switch-in the second season. It was refreshing to hear genuine laughter instead of the awful laugh tracks that were in the others.
